My MM is box stock, Last time out on cruise and during several contested "what hot/what not" episodes, while launching in 1st and manual shift at 5850 to 2nd, loud screeeeaching sound coming from rear of car? WTF?

You sure it wasn't a "chirp" and not a "screetch"? It will give you a second gear scratch... Does it do it if you let it shift itself?

Y'all should try that with snow tires on. You'll get guaranteed screech and lots of signature on the pavement.
Ooops, "Y'all" prolly don't have any snow tires! I should have said "you guys" to indicate proper latitude and snow tire applicability.
