Today, when I picked up Travis, my soon to be 3 year old - he said "Daddy your car is all dirty." And indeed it was. Little issue about sunburns and back issues have kept me from spending my requisite time on the weekends washing cleaning and detailing - so we drove thru a "touchless" carwash - just to knock some of the crud off. The carwash itself scared him quite a bit - I had to keep a running commentary about the suds, and the sprayers, and the blower to keep him from freaking out.

When all was said and done, I pulled out to the street - and looked around to see how much traffic there was, and turned off the AC, traction control and O/D. :D Guess where this is heading.

Now, I don't normally go for "excessive idisplays of speed" as I think the law around Texas calls it, but I tromped it a little bit. The wet tires had a lot to do with it, but when I snapped the rear end around 90 degrees onto the street in the correct lane, steering into the slide and then feathered the throttle to get a bit of hookup - I hear this odd sound from the backseat. I guess Travis hasn't seen the Dukes of Hazzard TV show yet - so he didn't know how to "yee-haw" like a true son of the south.

We got straightened up and were going down the road and he asks "What was that?" I told him that was a fishtail. Then he said "I wanna do that again!" and kept repeating. I was all :D:D:D:D going down the road.

We then went to Sonic for a drink and the carhop said "I REALLY like your car. I was watching you as you pulled in." REALLY... Hmmm.. if I were only 20 years young... nevermind. ;)

A fun time was had, until I told his mother about it. She said "well, like father like son" and rolled her eyes. :P

Years ago... back in Massachusetts I was sitting in my F150 SuperCab 4 x 4 with my boy in his car seat. (4 year old) We are at a light waiting for the green. Now in Ma. they had this annoying habit of turning left immediately on the green (the green arrow doesn't come on til after the straight traffic goes for a bit) and dashing infront to make their turn. If the number two guy is with it, he shades inside the first guy and you end up waiting for 2 -3 cars to cut infront of you on your green light. Well I see the first guy nudging ... so I says to myself.... "Self... this is a BIG TRUCK". Light changed, I lit 'em up and came straight into the intersection. Of course the guy planning on cutting me off slammed on his brakes.... yelled some in appropriate things.... I just gave him a hand signal to let him know I appreciated him.

Well we get home...... and my boy runs into the wife and says...

"MOM ! Dad went :burn: and then waved like this (middle finger extended)."

Of course the wife was less than pleased!

Sunday, i'm just coolin in the house, The car is in the driveway, front end pointing out. Just happened to be looking out the window, when next door neighbors kid ( about two years old) comes strolling down the driveway. Uh oh he spies the car and of all things the God's head badge. I'm about to go run him away from there, but decide to see what happens since he doesn't have anything in his hands. He looks, pats the emblem, tries to pull it off ( that little kid kind of way). Failing that he leans over and kisses it, and goes on his merry way. All i could do was smile.I was thru for the day.

That reminds me, my cousin who's 10 now, never took a ride in my car. He's kind of like my little brother but I haven't had a chance to scare him a bit yet. Maybe when he comes down for Thanksgiving or whenever his parents plan on comming down I'll give him a 'ride' :D ! Oh, I don't trust thoose machine car washes. If I'm feeling lazzy, I'll find a place that hand washes and tip em.

I gave a couple merrily drunk friends a short ride home from the bar a while back, both had never been in my car. I was just ****ycating along not more than 1/10 throttle and one says "this thing just wants to go!" I kept chugging till I dropped them at their place. Then I let the kooks bark them a song all the way down the block...
