How did this happen?
My father accidently sc***** the wheel well into the garage door rail. Not his fault, I park it close to it and he didn't know about it, not a biggie. It's just a thing.
My question to you all is how many of you have had this happen? And what is the the best and most cost-effective solution for my dilemma? I will probably go around looking next week for places that can fix this and compare quotes for doing the best job possible in restoring the paint/surface.
All feedback is appreciated.
My heart is heavy at the moment, be gentle. It hurts just to think of it, let alone actually looking at it. Could've been worse though right? :alone:

Got a black "Sharpie"? It's a nice touch-up tool for some minor nicks/scratches. Maybe a temporary way to hide it till it gets painted?
Just me thinking out loud...

Ouch! My wife is paranoid about banging up Marauders. She drives us to the meets, but makes me back it in between the other Marauders. :)
Had a grocery carry-out boy lose control of his cart and it crashed into my rear fender last week. a couple of inches above the rear bumper valence and inboard of the tail light lens by a few inches. A nice 1/2 dollar size dimple. The paint wasn't scratched however. The dealer took it out with the "hail damage" machine and it looks and feels perfect, cost -$75.00. I say all this because if the paint had been scratched the cost of repair would be in the $300-$400 range.
The service man said they don't do touch up work, they prep and paint the whole fender.
Non-dealer shops may do localized repair work. FWIW.

You could avoid paintwork, touch it up yourself, & then go Floridian/pimp with these to cover up the touchup :

SERIOUSLY ...
There may be another similar idea that doesn't look so bad if ya' don't want to do a re-paint on there ...
You could do the touch up, and invest in a thin black adhesive molding to go around the wheel wells, to hide the touch up. Better quality ones will be made by 3M(don't use some generic otterzone crap). Their thickness isn't much more than that of a door edge guard.
Talk to your dealer or other local dealers. Many dealers have people come in to give some of their inventory makeovers, with tape stripes(pin) - door edge guards - side body protective moldings etc etc. These guys usually carry around all kinds of moldiings with them.

Hummm....
Sounds like a perfect time to have the roll on the wheel wells widened for wider wheels and more tire. :D

I agree you could touch it up . Not a permanent fix but it will look a lot better.

If you don't want to spend the money getting the panel repainted, you could mask off the area, apply some sharpie, then a healthy serving of touchup paint. When the paint has dried take some 2000-3000 grit sand paper wet-sand everything level.
Of course you'll have to have access to a power buffer and some buffing compound.

Rear wheel wells already have a rolled fender.
