I don't know if anyone will be able to help, but here goes.

My car was the victim of misfortune back in June when an 18 wheelier smashed into the back of the car (driver side just after the fuel door). New quarter panel and new bumper.

Got the car back, now there a snapping and/or creeking coming from the rear end. Seems to be on the drivers side. The car drives fine, in fact it is only noticable at slower speeds when the car is turning, stopping, or backing up.

I brought it back to the dealer that fixed it, they replaced some control arms (attached photos) but it made little or no difference. They sent off a request to some Ford hotline and we are still awaiting a response. :alone: I'm wondering if anyone else might have an idea.

I can only assume it was a result of the accident or the reconsruction because it was not there before.

Wow, A dealership that helps and doesn't jerk you around. I figured they would have wrote it off as normal before calling the Ford Hotline...

Hope it gets fixed. Sorry I cannot be of assistance.

"Naw, aint seen dat since dat Mmmrrr, MMMrrrrowwd...hot rod Lincoln left here last week...Why?"Mac, you are probably right. :) Over the years I have come to own several nice tools that way. Lot of years ago, kept hearing a muffled thump from under the hood when I went over bumps, after having some repairs done. When I opened the hood, it turned out to be a large ballpeen hammer on top of the air cleaner.

My car made a similar noise.

The culprit turned out to be a flattened out/cracked upper shock mount bushing on the passenger side rear shock.

I second that---- I also had loose rear body mount, both seem clausable....

In case anyone was wondering...

It was a body mount. In fact they replaced 3 of them. Snap/creek is gone.
Thanks for the info guys, if I hadn't of suggested it to them they would probably still be looking for the problem. I told them I got it from the MercuryMarauder.net web site. They wrote it down.
