Just got my Marauder back from having the exhaust upgraded. Got the ceramic coated shorty headers from Ford Racing, high flow catalytic converters and x-pipe. Sounds real cool and feels a little stronger too. The neighbors probably wonder what's wrong with me. Why would someone spend 5 minutes revving up their engine in the driveway? But then again, I think i have them pretty well broken in with the noise created by my other projects. I'll be at Autofair next weekend. Vendor spot QB-56 in the Blue field.
When is the next meeting? I want to show my go-fast goodies and my Woodward pics.RW.

Good work frdwrnch. Can't wait to see your work.

I dunno about the meeting. This'll be my 2nd consecutive miss though.

Do you still have the stock mufflers ?

Yes, stock mufflers. Went drag racing the other night and car was much quicker. Gained .4 sec and 4 mph. Ambient temp was a small factor. Last test and tune it was 15 deg F warmer. 8.98 sec @ 80.12 mph.

Do these shorty headers bolt onto the existing exhaust system without mods?

The only modification necessary is to the EGR tube which must be repositioned. This must be done carefully as the corrugated metal is thin and delicate.

Frdwrnch:

I have the exact same exhaust system set-up that you just had installed. I am very pleased with the performance and sound. To be specific it is the FRC Cobra shorty coated headers and the Cobra hi-flow X-pipe with 2 CATS connected to the the stock mufflers and tail pipes. With this system and my other modest mods, I have been able to nail 13.98 in the 1/4. Not very many board members have this type of set-up, but it works very well.

The FRPP number for the Cobra Ceramic coated shorty headers is M-9430-E465, list is $450. You can usually get a 15%+ discount from the counterman if you talk to them (and you do not pay shipping). I would not recommend the SS headers (E464) for $350. The coated headers flow the exhaust gases better, last longer, contain the heat in the header better and do not discolor. Mine have been on for a year and look brand new.

Remember the headers will ONLY fit the Cobra X-pipe (Magnaflow #93335, SS 2 1/2") which has to be cut and extended 4" due to the longer wheelbase of the MM. This is a job for a good muffler shop. I had mine done at Todd's Grand Muffler in Atlanta.
