That's funny. I remember it from the television series with Craig Stevens.

When asking what's your Marauder's theme song, I suppose you mean what music I listen too the most while driving? That would be Count Basie's One O'Clock Jump. This is a dangerous tune when driving OTR, and if you don't watch yourself, it will have you cruising over 100 MPH in no time.

The way things stand, right now the song that best represents my car is the Linda Ronstadt tune "You're No Good".
If things improve somewhat over the next few months, I might be tempted to start listening to Trisha Yearwood's "Second Chance", but we'll have to see how things work out.

There are several songs that I really enjoy while crusin in the Marauder. But there is none better than Metallica S&M The Ecstasy of Gold and The Call of Ktulu during a massive convoy of crusin Marauders. I had that on during MVIIIs trips.
All of Metallica S&M is great cruisin music.

Thats a good one, That's the song in my burnout vid.
I start my engine, thrill at the immediate 2K rev-up, cursor my "Next" button to #8 on the CD and drive off to the clashing cymbols of the German marching band with men's corral playing and singing the "Panzer Anthem". Windows down, volume up, heels, heels, heels. Barely hear the Flowmasters.

Also count Back in Black. And TNT.
Then again, most recently what I like to hear in the stoplight derby is "He's a Pirate" from Pirates of the Caribbean
Several tunes by Disturbed fix a long day at work, especially "The Game"
Bionic Jive - "Ricochet"
Saliva - "Click Click Boom"
Sammy Hagar - "Heavy Metal"
(those last few not so much for lyrics but for sound)
Ok, there are about a hundred more. Too much good music out there to choose just one. Sue me. :D

The Big Band era and swing music, was during and after WWII, the generation following Al Capone's days. Prohibition was 1929 to 1931, The Big Band era and swing music got it's start in late '39 and lasted almost to 1950. This genre has to appreciated for what it was. Big Bands were 25-30 musicians, sometime twice that, and maintaining syncopation is no easy task Talk about having to be on the same page!
Swing music was pumped up ballroom/dance music, much the same way today's club/dance music is pumped up disco. The last of the great bands to play swing and modern dance, MFSB, continued to produce and sell records through 1981

SECOND movement?!
How about the fourth . . . The second gets a bit pastoral in the middle for a Marauder.
If that turns you on, try "Jupiter" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets." (used in Conan the Barbarian IIRC) Or "Mars" for that matter.
Incidentally Mars is what they used for one of those 2004 GTO commercials during the superbowl. It was also stolen and slightly changed for the theme of Star Trek VI.
If you want some adventure music (Erol Flynn style) try Mahler's Symphony #1. 'Course there's way more where that came from.

If what you have heard as the "One O'Clock Jump" seems lame, well, it's been covered by many, many Big Bands over the years, it was a top ten hit back then. The copy/cover we have on our MM audio CD, is the Harry James Band, quite popular in the late '50s.
I can polka and I can slide. I can Chicago bus stop too. I know when to "put your left foot in and shake it all around", eh?
LOL..."A big bad biker dude dancing" to any music at all, inspires my imagination. Thanks for the chuckle!
It strikes me as funny as Billy Crystal playing the President (though some would suggest Bush is as funny), or, Al Sharpington as "The Terminator". Ouch! C'mon Al, watch the cattle prod, will ya!
Music...Is imagination. Disney knew this. It's what you make it to be. It can be any music at all, as long as it gets you up and out of your chair.
I've been a sidedrummer in a bagpipe band longer that I want to admit, and despite our Grade 2 National Champion status, I can't figure out what those pipers are playing, or, why. But, I can help them sound better, and I do, and this gets me out of my chair.
So does Harry James, when he directs a dozen trumpets, trombones and french horns in a 50 piece brass orchestra, to Jump at One O'Clock...Exactly.
When you listen to it, imagine trying to steer that 50 piece bus. Same ambitious sound you hear from Tower of Power, and early Chicago horn lines. Hang on, dude, lot's of air coming your way.
You got my e-mail, Blackened, your choice.
BTW, thers is an appropriate Beach Boys tune present on the CD, "Don't Worry, Baby". I wanted some Mama's and Papa's tunes too, but, alas...

The most fitting song for the Mercury varies . . .
L.A. Woman - The Doors (late night drives)
Breathless - The Killer (Date Night with my wife)

I thought your favorite song was 'Kumbaya'?

"One o'clock Boogie" is a great song.
Then again, I like to go swing dancing, so I'm biased.. it's a frikken rockin song to dance to. To feel the speed of that song, you have to have the ability to imagine throwing a girl around at that tempo... it's fast.
One thing about being able to dance to different styles of music.. it changes your perception of the music. I listen to stuff now that I would have dropped dead before listening to in high school.
I'm gonna second the Tower Of Power sentiment too. "Diggin on James Brown" is good cruisin music (great west coast swing too).
My ipod is stuffed with a really weird assortment. Everything from Count Bassie and Duke Ellington to Sam Cooke to Eric Clapton to Metallica and System of a Down to Kyle Minogue and Celine Dion(ok, one song off the French album.. i can't stand her when I understand the words).

I'm surprised no one has suggested "Back In Black" by AC/DC, perfect for the reincarnation of the Marauder in 2003 after a 23 year absence. But for me, it would have to be "Beautiful And Blue" by the Iveys (1969) who would soon sign with Apple records and take Paul McCartney's suggestion to change their name to "Badfinger".

I just got done driving the Marauder after some upgrades and I must say I have a good recollection of what I was feeling about 8 hours ago.
For the most part I'm sure all of these are very nice songs. I'm sure any respectable citizen would feel the need for speed... but come on, lay on the couch and tell me how you really feel when you are in the car. I don't think any of them I've read cut it because I am sure some of them get as offensive as they should be but they need names that sound as pissed off.
The ever controversial "F++k the Police" by NWA deserves first pick rights on any Marauder cd by name and history:
http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/N.W.A
quote:
"It resulted in Milt Ahlerich, an assistant director of the FBI, sending a letter to Ruthless Records and its parent company Priority, advising the rappers that the law enforcement took "exception to such action (f__king the police)."
Now, don't get me wrong. I am the last person that would say or praise that attitude. But no one can ever tell me they don't perk up when the man is even near your car. And having something you know he probably thinks is one of his own's off duty car and it's you driving a little more pissed off version of his car makes it so much better. I love this sleeper. Nobody knows what it is. I saved 500 dollars by switching to Geico. No one is the wiser. Face it, we lucked out now that the muscle car is back. Sure, they're only getting bigger than ours, but I only care about mine and I love that I can afford something I shouldn't deserve.
Hey, I'm 25. Sure, you can relive the glory days all you want. I need something with a rap sheet, controversy, and makes me not think I'm driving a Grand Marquis.

Yeah, the urge to tell my buttface friends to suck it ten-folded this weekend. Any doubt that they actually let get to me that I was actually driving a blue-hair bumper car went away. I felt more like I was driving that car that was in the Starsky and Hutch movie. I do like the other feeling it gives me though more- like Sly Stallone's low grumbling beast in Cobra. A big, silver bulletproof bomb that makes a parking space by ramming your car out of where I want to park. It takes a special song to capture that ya know. A single tear rolls down my cheek.
Thank you Dennis for making my car as pissed off as it should have been in the first place.

I've been told many times that my MM looks either like a police car, but many more times that it looks like a mafia or gangster car. I don't know that it's my car's theme song, but it sure gives you the right feeling driving the Marauder. How about the Alabama3 song "Woke Up This Morning" from the Sopranos?
