You can store the #10 cans for 30 years. MREs typically can only be stored 10 years. MRE meat usually tastes like tuna for some reason, while Mountain House has been reported to actually taste like FOOD.

If the admin feel the need to delete this topic, please reconsider due to the recent events in New Orleans.

Pertinent Dates:
Orders should go to BroadSword by Sept 30.
Payment by Oct 24.

Apparently there is no min purchase requirement, but order at least $500 and you get free shipping. Shipping, from what I have heard, is typically about 10% of your order. It gets drop shipped from Mountain House to your door step.

Campers/backpackers are generally familiar with MH products.

Well, that is a big step up from "C" rations ... that "meat" (term used very loosely) used to taste like Sh*# !! Except for the beanie weenies !!! ..... and the peaches and fruit cocktail. :D If anyone ever complained about the "C's", they would pull a case of "K rations" off the back shelf .... that cut the complaints considerably !!

Maybe I'm weird,.. but I like MRE's. I don't think the meat tastes like tuna though.

When I was in the Sandbox in '03 I had to eat MRE's for over a month strait after the scuds started falling,.. even though I ate 3 of 'em a day, I didn't get tired of them.

...and I heard they have some really good ones now.

***edit***

Check out the new ones (http://www.natick.army.mil/soldier/media/fact/food/mre_improvements.htm)
