Well, after 3+ years, my crome caps were swiped last night. I've had to park the car outside for the last few months, and they finally got nabbed. My question is, where can I get replacements? Do dealers have them, or are they not available anymore. I seem to remember a few years back that people could not get them anymore. :mad2:

When mine got swiped last spring, the dealer told me they couldn't come by them anymore. Rather than take a trip to Cape Cod and boost some from members here, I got a set of the locking God's Head ones from Inovative Interceptors here on the site. Not sure if he still has any though.

You will like this,A few years ago I was at a car show sponsored by the Boyscouts. As the day went on people were noticing that there valve caps and custom door lock buttons were missing. It just so happened that a couple of off duty officers were there showing there cars.Well they caught one of the BOYSCOUTS with bulging pockets, the officer asked him if any one else was doing it the boy said yes and pointed them out(little rat). This is the fun part the officers handcuffed them to a tree and asked if they should get there parents or the owners of all the cars and bring them to the tree:D What do you guys think happend?

The parents showed up and said "My little Johnny would never do something like that !!". The they proceeeded to lambaste the police officers for false arrest. Following a protracted court battle, the plaintiffs were awarded $50,000 in damages and another $ 1 Million for pain and suffering caused by the tree incident. The lawyers took 33% of the total award.

So let that be a lesson to all those valve caps stealer out there.

Paul,

Thanks for the info. I ordered some from them. How do you like them? Do they really lock? My car is outside because I have been building another motor for the Chevelle, and it's hard to find the time to work on it. I'm building up another 502 for it. After selling the other one last year, rebuilding the original 396 and dropping it in there, I REALLY miss the 502, so I'm building up another one! The other one that I built was right at 582 hp. I'm building this one almost the same, so I should get simular results.

Thanks,

Wags

They lock, sort of. If you don't have the special tool that comes with them you can spin them all day long, but they won't come off. :)
Me & the Mrs have them on our MMs. They are outside 24/7 and havn't ben stolen yet. :D

I'm really pleased with them. I think they're pretty much theft proof, and they look real cool.

Yes I like my Gods head caps also,Well you all will like this. Two of the Boyscouts wet there pants from fear of what would have from either side,And nobody was sued or lost there job over it,there was only dirty laundry and everone sorted through and got there valve caps back.So I would call it sweet justice:D

This is the fun part the officers handcuffed them to a tree and asked if they should get there parents or the owners of all the cars and bring them to the tree:D What do you guys think happend?I would have fenced in a small area around the tree - rounded up every dog in town - gave them each a 5 gallon bucket of water to drink - put them all inside the fenced in area .....

Then pulled up a lawn chair outside the fence - kicked back w/a cold beer & enjoyed the show.

Several months ago, I noticed it on a trip to Cedar Fall Ia., .Our Drag racing event got rained out so we hung out at Johns'(Too Many Fords) estate till the Star Wars movie was playing.
thier are two that have a globe type tip and two that have flat cylinder shape tip.
I blame the dealer where I used to service my car at.
Not a big deal.

two of mine got stolen, I'm sure for a kids bike. Someone told me they just tighten it with a wrench and it is nearly impossible to get them off unless you have a little wwrench. Also my dealer said they had some but told me to go to Pep Boys and get the same thing for a 20%.

I had all but one of my God's head caps stolen. The one they left was mangled so bad that the thiefs didn't even want it. It was left on the ground. I went to Autozone and for $3 got a set of four chrome caps that look factory. At $0.75 each let them take them, I'll get more.

And thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating those two! haha.

Just kidding!

I've had mine taken at a mall one day and picked up 4 chrome ones from Advanced Auto that are really close to the factory ones and paid $2 for the set of 4. At that price, I can keep replacing them if I have to. Not sure I want to spend big $$ for factory ones.

Sure sucks and I still don't understand why someone would take the time for a .50 part.

I removed the chrome ones and put standard black ones on because I new those get stolen easily. I may just go to autozone like BigCars4Ever said.

I bought these originally. Ended up taking them off and putting the logo caps from Wes on instead. No comparison quality-wise to the caps Wes sells. The key for theirs is a PITA too.

When I got my MM it had 5800 miles on it and a lot of stuff was missing...
Manual, floor mats, valve stim caps, etc....anything the previous owner could sell on eBay...
anyway since I didn't even know what the caps should look like I went to Auto Zone and bought chrome caps that have a six sided top (like a nut or bolt)
they are small and look pretty good....
What did the original caps look like...????
