That Marauder looks great, took the picture from the other thread "thinking

about stripes". Anyway, looking for new tire option's and thought these

tires looked mean. Anyone know who makes them and what there called?

Thanks for any info,

Best, Mike

After looking at the article that this pic came from. Here is what I found.

It is stated that the tires are 245/45-18 Toyo Proxes S/T for the front and 295/45-18 on widened 18x9.5 MM rims for the rear.

You could do the same with Nittos.

There was another thread about tires, and the Toyo Proxes is a Sport Truck (ST) tire with almost identical dimensions as our stock ones. A little searching on the internet will shop some very attractive prices for them as well as a little better tread wear rating although that may differ on our heavier cars as opposed to a light sport truck. I agree with you that they're a sharp looking tire and will probably be my replacment tire when the time comes.

You could do the same with Nittos. Yes, you can. And, almost the same with Pirelli P-Zero Assymetricos, 255/45 front on the OEM wheel, and 285/45 rear on the widened 9.5" wheel.

question: eventhough these are truck tires, they are performance rated... does that mean that they won't be like driving on plastic tires? cuz with my 19" rims there are alot of performance truck tire options... are those ok tires... I've never had a set... I always assumed no

anyone?... anyone at all? NAVCHAP is a seasoned driver and veteran of the open road, if he's wearing Toyos, it's for a reason.

I don't know this tire personally, never used Toyos. However, their classification as a LT/SUV tire is IMHO, beneficial to us. The sidewalls are probably of stronger construction for the heavier vehicle, and as you can see by the DOT rating, they are rated for higher loads and speeds.

It's been a long standing pet peeve of mine that just because a particular size of tire accomodates our MM needs, doesn't mean that particular tire will give us good service. Many automobiles today share our size range, not many of them carry our weight, or, produce likewise power. This is important to study up on, considering how some of us tend to hit the twisties.

The major sites like Tire Direct and Discount Tire have very good on line support, mouse around and you'll pick up a book of notes fast.

Friends: Toyo tires, 255/45/18 fronts and 295/45/18 rears. They have over 20k miles on them now. They have nice grip in the wet as well as the dry. The single best purchase for the money during this project, dollar for dollar.

They are tires for a Ford Lightning Pickup, according to Logan. Jefferson Mo got the 4 of them for an insanely low price through his parts department. My goal was to have a road tire, not a drag tire. His service guys mounted them, and then they sent them out for a 4 wheel alignment.

They are not the highest speed rated tires, nor the stickiest grip tires, but they are ideal for the driving and the conditions. Since we have two parts vendor sponsors on the site, recommend that you PM me for contact information. Not fair to Ray or to the folks north of the 49 to post all the info here.

good to know, I currently have proxies too but not the S/Ts. I have had experience with some yokohamas on a 96 cougar that were good tires nice grip but the side wall was definately not for a 3800 pound car. Still not used to these heavy cars yet... but man do I love em :D

Did the tires myself, as well as the widened wheels, after Dennis sent me the car. Happy to provide you with the info if you ask by PM, email or phone call. Have a nice weekend, -kjs-

this site has some very attractive prices and quite a variety. and it calcs the shipping by entering your zip. the toyos proxes s/t 's are all season tires so they are good all around. no doubt that I may look into them for replacements too.
