I just talked to Charlie and his son suffered a mild stroke and is being released from the hospital at 2:30 eastern time, and on his way back to Ft. Leonard Wood. Charlie and the family thank everyone for their prayers and support.:grouphug:

He should be back home next Wed. and can answer your questions then. I understand from what Charlie said these things are one in a million events where a hunk of "stuff" gets dislodged from somewhere, and clogs a spot in the brain.

Full recovery is expected. :sunshine:

Full recovery is expected. :sunshine:That's some really great news! I also had a mini stroke myself on my left side back in July of 1991, when I was only 43 years old. I was completely paralized on my left side for 10 or 20 seconds. It scared the bejesus out of me. They put me in the hospital for a week and ran every kind of test imgainable. But they couldn't give me an absolute reason for the stroke. It could have been sticky platelettes in my arteries that broke loose and clogged my carotid artery just for 10 or 20 seconds. Or it could have been my carotid artery just literally collapsing for 10 or 20 seconds. My colesteral was and still is 130! All I know is i'm still going strong. The only lasting symtoms are a continuing weakness in my left leg and arm. Otherwise I'm really enjoying my 4-1/2 year old grand daughter Madison, and MY 2004 Mercury Marauder. Its DTR and Maddie has named it "big red". She really loves to ride in "big red" all the time. She likes the rear window going all the way down. Most cars rear windows only go half way down these days. I send all my prayers to Charlie's son for a full recovery and a very long and enjoyable life.

PS: I personally believe there is great strength in prayers!

First off, this is great news!

Second, I too had a stroke when I was 36 years old. It is some scary stuff indeed. I rebounded from it pretty well, thanks to the support of my friends and family. Your son has that support here.
