Just finished the install on the Autometer OP and Voltmeter.
I read a lot of different posts on OP readings and deduce that around 25psi at idle and up to 50psi or so at RPM is normal.
Well, when I started my car to check for leaks my OP is 75psi (cold) and goes close to 90psi when I rev it.
I shut the car off for fear that something isn't correct. Is this high a reading normal on a cold engine?

What you are seeing is normal. I had the same question when upgraded my gauges a couple of months ago.

AZ Marauder,
I've seen your recent questions about rewiring Auto-meter gauges. Does this mean that you've installed your Trilogy kit? :)

Az, your readings are normal...
Mine reads ~100 lbs on cold start, ~50 lbs cruising (warm) and ~25 lbs idling in drive (warm)

Its normal and the car at idle can idle as low as 12PSI depending on OAT

Yep, 75 psi cold, and only about 15 psi at idle when warmed up.
BTW, Be careful how much you rev her when she is cold..... :nono:
I've installed an oil temperature gauge along with a 'real' oil pressure gauge and you would be suprised at how long it takes for the oil to warm up in our Marauders!

No..... I haven't even opened the boxes ! (great self control)
My mechanic buddy just got back from a business trip... but he may not be available this coming week. So I may have to tackle this myself.
Only got two weeks before Cars in the Park.

Thanks for all your replies. I appreciate it!
I let the car warm up this evening and every thing worked as you folks indicated.
Great thing about being in the back of the pack when doing Mods. Some one else has already blazed the trail. I just make sure I read the road signs correctly and don't get lost !

Az....
Your reaction is exactly why Ford opts for a "Dummy Gauge"....Too many people would panic ant the wild pressure swings on a real gauge and warranty visits would be ovewhelming!! :argue:
Average folk don't like to see gauge needles jumping all around!! :mad2:
Mine is roughly 100 PSI cold at 3000 RPMs and about 70 PSI hot at same RPM's!! Idle is about 15-20 PSI at 600 RPM's....If the "Gauge" is correct?? I suspect it is off a bit since the OEM Gauge face is not calibrated quite like the aftermarket one that came on the gauge.....but it's close enough fer me!! :bows:

The only thing that concerned me is no one mentioned a "cold" reading. I have "real" gauges in my Fairlane and I am used to the higher cold readings and the gauge swing.
I used to have a high volume pump in my 69 Camaro SS (cough.. gasp.. cough) and it would move almost like a tach when I increased RPMs. :)
Thanks for your reply.... I'm over that hurdle....
Now on to a Trilogy install !

Az...
In my post I said mine is 100 PSI cold at 3000 RPM's. Idles at about 75 PSI cold!!
It drops to normal after about 10 minutes of driving!! :)
