Sad a number of looters were NOPD, they are being charged with "desertion".

It taints the bravery and duty that the majority of NOPD displayed.

I can't imagine being given the responsiblity but not the training, hardware or command structure necessary to meet the challenge. They only had their wits, character and sense of duty. ( remember how 2 heavily armed men robbing a bank in the LA area paralized the entire LAPD for several hours on live tv)

Of course none of the elected oficials are discussing the fact that the residency law resulted in the NOPD being 25% understaffed, some thing frequently debated in public before the horror of horrors.

Much like the WWII Holocosts was and by some to this day is still denied the horror of horrors is not being discussed.

Unfortunately in N.O most of the good people with guns left leaving a vacum for evil to fill. This evil is posed to pounce again at the slightest hint of opportunity, because they got "cheated out of their share" by a rival!
