Please excuse my rant...
For the last 10 years, I have been as defensive a driver as I can be.
I have my moments, but at least I don't hurt anyone during those times,
and I try to keep those moments to empty parking lots...
Tonight, while driving home in my father-in-law's Jeep Cherokee,
I get hit by a friggin idiot, who is in too much of a rush to wait for a red light.
I want to strangle this idiot !!!
I am thankful that I am safe, that the Jeep didn't roll over and kill me.
I would like to think that I still have a long life ahead of me,
and these suttle hints are telling me to get the hell out of town.
I'm driving down the strip, minding my own business.
I doing the speed limit because I have nowhere to go
and plenty of time to get there.
I am on my way to the interesction near a mall,
and see this blue van coming down the drive to enter the intersection.
I am driving south, and he is heading west
from the north side of the intersection.
I'm watching this van, looks like a Chevy Lumina type van,
and its getting close to the intersection and looks like its not going to stop.
I check the light and I'm green he's red.
The driver of the van is looking south at the oncoming northbound traffic,
so I think he's just making a right to go North.
That's when things went wrong....
As I got close enough to the intersection, the van shoots out
across the intersection to make a left turn, with the driver
never turning his head to look at the southbound traffic.
In doing so, I entered the intersection at the same time.
I was at the point of no return...
I hit the horn, and tried to swerve out of this guys' advance.
He never looked at me until it was too late.
I got hit in the left rear door and the left rear wheel.
It spun the Jeep around 180 degrees.
The van stopped in the left lane and we were both facing each other.
All I wanted to do was to get out and strangle this M****R F****R !!!
His van was COMPLETELY TOTALLED in the front.
Here is the kicker...
Right after the accident about 8 people ran across the street from the mall.
They all checked on us to see if we were hurt, and one called the police.
Then we started waiting.
From the time the accident occured, until the Police,
Fire and Ambulance got there was almost an hour.
When they did finally arrive, they told me
that they only had received the call 3 minutes earlier.
AND... I had also called after waiting 20 minutes with no response...
After all was done, the idiot got a summons for making an illegal left turn.
There were 2 signs indicating NO LEFT TURN, and the green light
is lit with 2 right turn arrows for the street he exited from.
There was no way of proving that he went through a red light
because there was no cameras at this intersection.
The Officer told me that from the looks of things, the driver was 100% wrong.
So now I want to start a new town of my own.
I will call it MARAUDERVILLE, and ONLY MARAUDERS ARE ALLOWED !!!
