Mine are on order! I just called Ray about these earlier this week and they weren't available, had to order the whole door panel to get them. Ask and you shall receive.

I believe the '05 CV has black or charcoal ones, but the '05 GM has chrome ones. I want them because it's hard to see the OEM handles in the dark. And it's a little different...

Its a CV part for the Sport LX. Sorry I don't have a part number handy. The "kit" comes with both the shifter button and a replacement chromed plastic sleeve for the shifter shaft. Ask me how I know. :D I have these on mine.

A little bit of chrome here. A little over there. :beatnik:

Are the door handles 'chromed' plastic or are they actually metal?

Do we need to take our door panels apart to install or is there an easier way??
I hate to start messing with the clips on these panels.

The door panels do not need to be removed to change out the inner handles. I know this because I removed my front door panels to change my speakers.

Correct, just removde the screw cover, then remove the scew, handle assembly will just pull out.

I took the screw out, but it doesn't seem to be coming out. Can someone tell me if there is an easy way that this handle should come out? I don't want to start prying a screwdriver around and risk breaking something.
Sorry for all the questions guys. :o

It should come right out. Maybe something changed between the early 300Bs and the 2004 300As.

Roy,
It came out..there are two clips on top that you have to push down when the screw is removed.
Thanks for your help.

Found the old part bag. It says part number YF1Z-7C488-BA. It also says "ONE BUTTON" but as I recall it had the sleeve in the same package. Maybe double check with Ray if that's true.

:bigcry: :bigcry: I just spent some very dissapointing time with my new chrome handles--THEY WON"T FIT MY CAR and cannot be modified to fit. I am attaching photos--the new chrome handle assemblies are about 3/8 inch thicker than OEM ---looks like they will fit--PLEASE don't try to force them until you carefully compare the new ones to the ones you have removed--my car is a November '02 non-decontented 300B. Note the differences in the spacer pins and the depth of the screw-well--DON'T cut off the pins--the screw-well will still keep the unit from snapping into place--also, the screws tightened up REAL stiff the last few threads coming out--cleaned the coating off the screw, but didn't strip the one I took out--I suggest you use a rear door--almost messed up my driver's door. I think they may fit the later cars--but they flat won't fit MY car--Hope the pics help--Good Luck folks--well, back to the drawing board, Maury

Man, glad I read this whole thread! I was so going to do this, but my '03 was made in October '02 as a pre-decontented 300B, so I have no reason to believe my experience would be any different. Thanks for saving me $75 and a headache Maury!

Well ain't that a son of a bishop ... who would have thought ?.

With all the nickle & dime stuff FoMoCo tries to save money on .....

Why on earth would they make such a SMALL change ?.

Smaller door handle cup = a different part mold, which SHOULD = more money.

Wonder if there are any other differences in the 03/04 vs 05 door panels once you get them off.

Maury,
Sorry, I saw mine yesterday and noticed the size difference but didn't get around to posting or trying them out. I'm wondering about removing the hinge pin and swapping out only the handles.

OK, the hinge pin on the new one is a press-in piece and it won't come out. I had the bright idea that I could get the handle out by destroying the cup and was successful. Now maybe I can get the OEM handle out of the OEM cup by destroying the handle and piect the two together. Gonna try to do one complete one before I destroy any more of the new cups.

BTW, I don't understand why they totally changed the cup design but at least now they are consistent since the front and back are the same, while on the '03 the front and rear are different sizes. Looks like they would have just used one or the other and designed the alternate door panel with a slightly different size opening.

Save your effort the door handle assemblies on our cars have the same/similar press fit design and you'll destroy the thing enough that its not worth it.

Perhaps some judicious use of a dremel tool, patience, and some 5min epoxy afterwards, Good luck and take how to pics once you figure it out!

Got one done. It was the "prototype" so I'll document the next one. Like you said, careful application of dremel, then pliers and a punch, then press them back together. Totally destroyed the unused parts, though. Not a "quickie" swap by any means.

Won't work, you'll have to destroy a set of housings and a set of handles, couldn't take a rental back like that (I think they would notice). And it has to be the GM 'cause the CV (at least the ones I've seen) has dark handles instead of the chrome ones the GM has.

What I had in mind ... involved yanking off an 05 door panel & comparing the "backsides" of one to mine.

If they were the same ...

Perhaps I would then get ummm errrrrrr ..... confused yea yea that's it ... when I went to put both cars back together.

:P

Come to think of it ... you might be right on the CV handles.

Backside may work, but you would lose the dot matrix trim on the frontside.

I already thought about the rental approach....

I'll check that out, but you may be surprised. It may be like the taillight trim, which is permanently attached to the taillights.

Chrome door handles on. After modding the first one (about 3 hours to figure out how to do it) the rest of them weren't too bad. Second one about 1 hour, 3rd & 4th about 1/2 hour each. I wonder if the '05 GM has chrome door lock buttons?

Anybody know how to get the shifter handle off so I can install the chrome shifter button?

Found this. Don't know if tit works.

- Slide / push down the collar on the shaft ( it's a cover ).
- There are two allen-head set screws / bolts in the back - remove them.
- Gently pull-up on the leather shift knob to expose the O/D selector wiring ( tucked-up in a groove in the front of the shaft ) - disconnect it.
- Hold the selector button and remove the leather shift knob by pulling it up and off the shift lever.
*Reason for holding the selector button - there's a spring in the recess that holds it and if you don't it will sproing to where you can't find it.

Worked perfect. I believe the screws are actually torx, but an allen wrench worked great.

Anybody seen a '05 GM? are the door lock buttons chrome?
