View Full Version : Alfa-Romeo GT

Any of you car nuts know anything about European Cars? I know French cars very well, but not much about Italian cars.

Just spoke with a friend in the South of France, who told me that when I visit France again next May/June, he will let me use one of his cars. (I normally lease a Renault Laguna II - Great car for my needs). He told me he has three cars in the family. I knew his big Renault Safrain (diesel)(dog), and his small Peogeot 106 (very small city car), so I asked what is the third. He just purchased a new Alfa-Romeo. OK I then asked which Alfa, was it a 164 or a 153 (if they still make those models). He said, no, it is an Alfa-Romeo GT (Coupe). (The 164's I see over there are fast, but this sounds FAST).

Would like to know more about this before I decide not to order my Renault Laguna II for next May/June.

OK, I came up with almost the same pix from the British Alfa-Romeo site. Says it has a 240BHP 3.2liter 24V V6 with a six speed manual.

My wife does not want me to use it (darn). She want us to lease the Renault Laguna II like we normally do. (darn darn darn).

OK, I came up with almost the same pix from the British Alfa-Romeo site. Says it has a 240BHP 3.2liter 24V V6 with a six speed manual.

Is it me ... or is that a rather "cocky" tail end of that license plate there ?.

So who's gonna pull up in front that thing with a "NOFKU" plate on the front of THEIR car ?.

Alfas are a lot of fun but most Italian cars require a unique seating position. The pedals are usually close and the steering wheel is far away. We used to call it the "gorilla".

Once in a while, you do see an "American" car. Most of them are Chrysler products that are made in Austria or Belgium. I've seen many PT Cruisers, 300M (with the 2.7 engine), and MiniVans. Also saw Pontiac Vans. Saw an old (from the 1960's) Buick Skylark and a Chrysler LeBaren 4door, the kind US Police used to use many years ago. Thats about it for American cars.

The owner of the casino in Antibes had an original AC Cobra.
