A DARPA Challenge Winner

This (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/robot_race) is really cool tech. Last year nobody could complete the course, but this year Stanford built an autonomous vehicle that covered over 100 miles of rough terrain on it's own.

I remember that. The Red HMMWV from Carnegie mellon was "first" last year with 7 miles before it got caught up. This year they got 2nd. I think their performance in the first year will help them along in the next phase of the programme.

Sometimes the "top performer" in 1 event may not keep its consistency throughout the trials, whereas a 2nd or 3rd performer keeps its consistency. Slow = Smooth, Smooth = Fast.
