OK call it Marauderville IV
It appears Logan has called for proposals, but it is hard to find as it is one group forum only
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14462&page=3
If you guys are interested in doing an MV-IV, get a proposal together soon, within the next 30-45 days and send it my way.
Are there any other areas interested in submitting a proposal?
From what I've read on another board (of all places), some seem to think this is a done deal.
Surely this is not the case.

that's the feeling I had about it.
Hopefully there will be a few groups with proposals to submit.

Atlanta has the Atlanta Dragway, Road Atlanta and Lanier Speedway (which the SS group has been able to use) and home to Panoz, the handbuilt sportscar sporting the Cobra engine. Plant tours can be arranged. Panoz also builds Indy cars and all of the Championship cars beginning next year. Lots of carbon fiber there!!

This is just an idea, certianly not a "proposal" but I figured I'd throw it out there anyway. I know a ton of hardcore people come out from the west coast every single year. My hat goes off to them, putting all those miles on their precious cars, and braving weather that most of us wouldn't in their own city. Why don't we meet them half way? Or maybe, a little more than half way? I was thinking of a state where we probably have the fewest members, if we have one at all. How about Denver, Colorado? That seems to be a centrally located western city, but not "west coast" so to speak. They've got an NHRA track. http://www.bandimere.com/ and it's even got a view of the mountains. I mean, we'd all run slower than usual, but so what? I think it would be cool to meet all the west coasters half way. I'd say they'd at least appreciate it. So far there have been 3 Maraudervilles, two of them on the "east" side. It would only be fair.
Now...don't everyone kill me! It was just an idea.:D

Not to go on but...Braselton/Commerce is less than an hour to the mountains with a lot of twisties, the Tail of the Dragon is 3 hours away, (try Tail of the Dragon on your browser)...all kinds of side trips, close to Florida, home of the largest contingent of MM owners etc, etc.

Let's not forget Florida. Again, with the largest contingent, Gainesville dragstrip, Dennis Reinhart's facility, the oldest town in America, real, live gators. Question is who has the wherewithall to get this going?

How about smack dab in the center of the country,...Omaha?
We have steak
We have 2 drag stripes within an hour of downtown:
Mid-America Motorplex
http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/code/directions.asp
Nebraska Motorplex
http://www.nemotorplex.com/
We have a Lincoln Mercury dealer that would be interested in sponsoring a Marauder event. Have been talking with the service manager....the owner likes to race cars:
Woodhouse Lincoln Mercury
http://www.woodhouse.com (http://www.nemotorplex.com/)
We have steak
We have a micro-brewery, along with numerous other institutes of adult beverages in the Omaha Old Market area
We have 3 casinos (across the river in Council Bluff, IA)
West of town the speed limit on I-80 is 75 MPH
We have a BassPro Shop (opens next week)
We will have a Cabelas, planned for a Fall 2006 opening
We have 93 octane, current average price is $2.44 (across the river in Council Bluffs, IA)
From Southern Maryland (Charles County), I've made the run in 19 hours.
Just thought I would throw this out for comment.

I think before all this speculating continues, the Regional Groups should get together and consider what they have to offer. Then post up as a group.
Individuals posting what they think is best will end up being too confusing.

What about Nevada?

We'd consider doing one at the All Ford Nationals at Carlisle in a year or two, but for now, really like the idea of MMV IV in Atlanta. I hope you fellows down that way can put something together. This year, for us, anyway, Denver is just too much of a commitment to contemplate. :)
PS: Just a word of advice: DO NOT invite the President to bring his Mustang, as they did at Charlotte. What a disaster!:bricks:

Then I could have TAF do me..... a favor and put a nice exhaust on my car.

Ok, then I would cast my premature stone for Atlanta also.
Thanks for the several PMs/emails, phone calls, etc. on this one folks...but, I've got too much going on with the shop to head-up this...but, maybe some other (much more talented) folks here in the ATL would step-up to take on a task like this.
And Rich...

Also, I am almost sure that I read (right before MVIII) that the Sunshine State Marauders, which I am glad to be a humble member of, offered to sponsor it. They are a great bunch of folks who will get the job done right.

According to the Marauder Map, the best central location looks like it's somewhere around the middle of Kentucky. I know this leaves out some of the West Coast boys but it seems the the Marauder populatiion is bigger on the East Coast. Just my 2 cents.

That track is the ****zle, except for its altitude. Plus, that is some beautiful country there. FFW was there and I attended and had a great time. I will be at FFW next year too. Hooking it into that event may not be a bad idea.
Would anyone consider coming to Englishtown in May and we could hook this in with the FFW event there?

How bout Bowling Green, Ky? Then the S/C crowd can have some fun with a few unsuspecting Vettes.
