I want to change out the drivers seat to something a little more ergonomic.
Not one of those wild rice racer seats...:shake:
Something stylish like maybe a Racaro seat...
The original (light flint) seat is just a little too unsupportive for me...
I have considered swaping out the seat for say...one out of a Lincoln
Mark VIII...I own one of those and the seats are great...sould be able to pick one up a junk yard...the leather may even match...if not I'm willing to spend the money to have it recovered...I'm not going for a racing look here...:shake:
The other thing is that maybe the seating controls will still work...
Has anyone else made a seat change and if so, i'd like to hear what problems you had...
Thanks, architect

Do the belts attach to the seat or to the floor and pillar? If at least one attachment is on the seat, you'd have to either relocate it or attach it to the new seat. Either way, I would personally worry about the integrety of the new location.

Seems like altering the existing seat to your liking might be the ticket or maybe finding a good matching seat from a salvage MM and having it re-worked to your spec's by a good auto trim shop could be a good alternative. That way all the electrical and bolt up stuff would match and just the soft-trim parts would be changed. Just a thought:D .

And you wouldn't lose your side airbags.

Replacing the seats also involves tricking the air bag computer, i've been chasing this problem for a while since i have seat removed for a wheelchair setup. The airbag light will be on unless the seat is there, note: passenger side also has a pressure pad in the seat to sense occupant

Good information....thanks for the input...
I think modifying the original seat is a good idea...remove the leather and add
some side bolsters and one under the legs...
I'll look into that...
Thanks again, architect
