MM&F magazine was able to get a 14.77 out of a marauder at Cecil bone stock...

I've run a 15.07 in mine so far in HOT weather...

You have established a beginning benchmark of speed/time, but with only 200 miles on it, it should be tight inside the engine and in no way indicative of what the future holds, except that, in an unbroken-in engine, breaking 16 seconds should be a pleasant harbinger of good things to come. My Lincoln LS and many other folks' LSs take upwards of 10K miles to fully come into their most powerful and most economical to operate states. To do 1/4 mile runs with a brand new car is not going to give you great times and is probably going to lead to premature engine wear down the road. You shouldn't notice it for some time to come, but when that engine has 100K on it, it will most likely not be the same internally as someone else's that was not drag raced out of the box. Post your VIN so others may be able to avoid your car down the line when it goes back out on the market. :^)

I didn't hit the track in the Bullitt until I had over 800 miles on it & I would suggest waiting till at least 500 miles click off before romping on it like that. At any rate, the best times in my Bullitt stock were registered with about 1,270 miles on the odometer. I don't think OHC motors break-in any different than OHV engines do because the cylinders & piston chambers are essentially the same, but others might disagree. I've seen lots of guys at the track run poor times & then make a comments like "Well, those times will really come around when the engine breaks in" "Oh? How many miles do you have on it?" "Just turned 5,000." Seriously, an engine should be making about 95% of it's max potential power & torque by that point, so another 5% won't change anything. That's my two cents anyway.

hi all,

dave here,

never post your vin in a open forum like this, it may be usefull to a crook. as for your run, you may just need more passes because as the times the mm and ff guys ran show drag racing is more than point and shoot to ring the best out of your car. also if your car was ever test driven by anybody else you can bet they did "wot" maybe not for 16 seconds but in a car like the mm it would be mandatory to get on it just to see what it can do so just keep up the oil changes and your engine should last a couple trannys, rear ends and paint jobs.

and definitly go driving around and look for impala ss to have some fun with at the stop lights.

thanks,

Geez, the only people that take an engine to the track that new are Pro's that rebuild their engine's after almost every run.
