I ran into a gentleman yesterdy that owns a 300A. He told me that the L/M dealer in No. Aurora had a "factory package" that consisted of 4.10's and a chip and was covered by the Ford warranty. Has anyone heard of this? I tried calling there today but they are closed on the weekend so I'll try again on Monday.

Thanks,

Tim

First I've heard, keep us posted, if this is true I'd drive down for the install.

Hey Fireman Tim!

Any news from the dealer yet?

I called my local Dealer, they have not heard about a "factory package". Which doesn't mean a whole lot, since they also sell the Grand Marquise Marauder and the "rare" Blue Marauder !

Thanks,

Tim

Anyone remember the great names of 60's street racing? Names like Yenko? Baldwin Motion? Anderson Ford? if you do, this is deja vu.

If the dealer in Aurora Illinois is a "Napleton," it's probably true. There is a Napleton family of auto dealers in the Chicago area, selling everything automotive.

I bought my MM from Napleton in Blue Island, and this dealer installed ALL of my Stage I and II mods, with no hint to any warranty issues as others have reported here.

The last time I visited the Blue Island shop, I saw Reinhart driveshafts (Dynatech) and torque converters (Stallion) in stock, and the SM (Jim Holuibak @ 708.385.4500) seems to have formed a retail relationship with Dennis. I can only imagine that the SMs of the Napleton family have an underground thing going on. Not sure if they are selling or installing anywhere else, but you can get it from Jim.

I suggest you go see the Service Manager, I doubt any salesman or parts man is up to speed on mods, and this still may be something done on the hush.

If you want it legal and can't find it local, it is available out south here, in Blue Island. 127th Street, east of Kedzie Ave. And, if you're headed out this way for mods, drop me a note too, I'm a few blocks from the dealership.

Ok, here's the scoop guys. I went to Napelton L/M today after several unreturned phone calls. Talked to the parts manager and he told me that I would have to contact Rod Baker Ford in Plainfield, IL. I won't have time to call them today but if I get a chance I'll try from the firehouse tomorrow.

I'm also interested in your findings Tim. Any mod friendly dealers are great! Serge, did they also install your chip?

I have many fond memories of Motion. I spent MANY,MANY dollars there, and had 2 fairly evil cars to show for it. Lots of fun.
Oh to get back to 19 years-old...............

The dealership I bought the car from is great!
The Service manager/director is a gear head, and when I mentioned
Dennis Reinhart, he knew him very well, and advocated the use of his performance mods.
The installed the 4:10's and the thermostat, I had them do the thermostat because I didn't feel like buying anti-freeze...I know, thats lame....

I installed the plugs and the chip myself, it was incredibly easy.

Any dealership worth anything should install the 4:10's no questions asked, just have to pay the labor....if the dealer does it, it is under warranty.
And the chip in now way will void your warranty...there are laws that cover this type of enhancement.

It was my understanding that you put the same antifreeze back in. Why would you have to buy any?

I guess it just depends on how much runs down your arm and onto the floor when you are doing the swap!!

Had the pleasure of working for both dealers in the '60s, Nickey's built some bad a** sleepers, Norm knew how to have fun, and often showed up at our Fri/Sat nights at Wrightwood and Clyborne, or, Elston and Webster...Bring back memories Gary?

BTW...I will be there May 17th
