Most of these cars are stolen for their parts (like Marauders for their wheels). Also, the statistics are different depending on the area in question. Some metro areas will show higher theft rate of pick up trucks, while others may show a higher rate for import sedans.

We've beaten this dead horse into the ground several times.

These stupid lists are compiled annually by insurance cos. and their lackey "Policy Thinktanks" and use voodoo-based spreadsheets to contort all sorts of misrepresentations in the hopes that underpaid reporters and overworked editors will be content to spew forth unchallenged on the ignorant masses.

Any decent journalist is quick to note how strangled the logic is in selecting how these numbers are represented in the "study." (I know, I've been both a decent reporter and vicious editor.) Certainly, if you tried to pull this kind of blatently flawed research logic on a graduate paper on the industry, you'd never make it past a peer review panels.

Certainly, these lists contain little that resembles reality, except in the that insurance cos. will use them to raise the rates charged to consumers overall.

Steve, Doesn't appear things are going well with your repairs??

Haven't started yet. Waiting for parts. I'm hoping it will turn out all right, though. I've used this body shop for years, and more than a few members of the Corvette clubs use it as well. A couple years ago, they repaired the damage where some idiot backed into my Corvette in a grocery store parking lot. Took them a while, but it looked good as new when they were finished.

Should we be upset that a '90 Acura has displaced the Marauder for the number 8 position on previous lists ???

Why? did you get a look at a stolen Marauder?. Did they leave the fine

leather seats and just take the wheels? Oh ya the seats are the same ones

in the Vics..
