The paint code is located on the manufacturer's sticker on the drivers side door. It's located near the bottom _ EXT PNT - followed by two letters. That's the code. Don't have a DTR so I couldn't tell you but a Silver Birch is JP.

Yes, but as they discovered with my 2006 E250, it's not always the same shade so not an exact match. The year is needed also

Sometimes companies will change a color just a pinch. What one may think is the same color won't be ... it will be off just enough to look funky.

It's also not uncommon for a color to use the same exact code(s) - but use different names among divisions within the company, while actually being the exact same color.

Take 1972 General Motors for instance. If you click on the links below for each division & review their respective paint charts ... you will find their are certain colors that all the divisions share by looking at the paint code #'s, even tho the actual name of the color may differ.

EXAMPLE - take a look at the first color listed on each of the 1972 GM paint chip charts below. You will see that it's white. While all (5) divisions share the same (2) digit paint code(11) & the other (4) digit code of 2058 respectively ... the chosen name that each division uses is different except for Olds & Pontiac, which both called it "Cameo White". Further review of each of the (5) divisions charts will show there are several colors with the same codes that were shared - but their chosen names were different.
