Howdy -

I'm checking the online prices for tires and can't find anything cheaper than $184 (or $188 with free shipping).

This is for the fronts (KDW2) 235/50/18

Anyone been watching these for a while and know if this is a good price? Or should I watch for a while since I don't need them until spring?

Seems a bit pricey but the fronts have always been higher than the rears for some reason.

Thanks

you can also try to upgrade to 245/45's or a similar size. try tires-easy.com they have some great prices. and seems like quite a variety. I almost ordered from them, but I have yet to.

Tire rack has 'em for $131. If you take a printout of that price to most dealers, they'll match it.:)

Just an FYI, the link above points at KDWS, the original style Marauder tire, not the newer style KDW2. Different tread patterns, and the original style is designed to handle some snow (thus the added "S"), while the KDW2 (also known in some places as KDW NT for New Tread) is not snow rated. The KDW stands for Key feature Dry and Wet.

Just want to make sure that you get the correct style you want for your 'rauder. I liked the KDW2 style better, so that's what I bought. Other folks prefer the more traditional looking tread design of the original style.

Hey, thanks. I didn't know that. I guess you're saying KDWS is the original equipment tire on my '04? (and still on it) Cool, I'd use 'em again. ;)

Yes, I knew that 131 was the price for the KDWS, which IIRC has been discontinued.

The KDW2 is a far superior tire. I have them on the rears (well, until I put the snows on Saturday anyway) and they rock. If it's $50 per tire difference, I would definitely go with the new tread design. They are worth it.

EDIT - and tires-easy.com has the KDW2s in the stock front size for $188.00 Same as Tire Rack, and if they are the same, might as well go with Tire Rack because they are a sponsor.

Anyone have a used left front KDWS or (whatever was stock on an 04) with say 10k on it laying around? I have one I need to replace and would rather not replace both fronts right now. If i can get one cheap with similar wear id take it.

I think you mean the opposite. The older 7 series BMWs had 235/50-18 fronts. MM is the only production car using 245/55-18.

I actually just picked up a front for $131 about a month ago. I bought the rears when they put them on sale for $88 and just held onto them until I really needed them.
