I'll just call it a "mini rant", then go back to bed.

Last night, someone lacking in good graces, a social conscience and road skills decided that my parked car would serve as a great place to bring theirs to a halt against.
Bumper cover is torn through, grill is knocked out, and I've got a 2" long dent in my drivers side, front wheel.
I've always considered going "badgeless", but "toothless" is a look I'm not particularly fond of.
Yup, my car was hit head on by someone driving on the wrong side of the street while I visited friends last night for dinner.
As you might have guessed, there's not as much as an "I'm sorry" card under the wipers, just another unplanned expenditure for me this year.

Hit and run, yes. Had a police report filed as soon as the damage was noted.
This morning, I found several pieces of the other car, strewn about and mixed with bits of mine.
Maybe I'll spend some time this weekend, cruising the neighborhood with my camera.
Hey SergntMac! It's a Sony DSC-F707 (I kid you not!)

Whatever hit me is missing one of it's driving lamps and a few chunks of plastic. If the owner lives in the subdivision, it ought to be fairly obvious to match the parts in hand with the damaged car.
Or is that a bad idea? Dunno. All I do know, is that I'm an easy going guy. All the driver had to do, was to ring the bell, leave a number... whatever.
Now, I'm PO'd.

Post the photos of the pieces here, in case some of us might recognize the model.

I'm betting it was a Honda.

I'd drive around in something other than the Marauder, in order not to give away who you are. On the odd chance you DO find the perp, THEN I'd switch to haunting that neighborhood in the Marauder, with particular emphasis made on slow nonchalant cruises in front of the perp's house. Make sure to do it while travelling in both directions, to discount the possibility that you might just be headed towards the same destination. You'd be surprised what a guilty conscience mixed with panic will do to a person.

If you find it, don't attempt contact. Call the investigating Police Officer and let him know what you found. He should follow up.

Nuts! I guess I'll delete those plans I got for a personal thermonuclear device from Google this morning.

Dude that sucks, I feel for you. I had someone wipe out in front of me this morning in the snow in a GTO. Took all my skills to miss him. MM's sure don't like to stop in the snow with their stock shoes on!

In one of your posts, you said you'd take a stock grill as a core, "sight unseen".
How many boxes should I use to send mine in?

J - Sorry about the damage to your Marauder.:( The only positive thing is that is not a chargeable accident and your comprehensive should cover it, less the deductable.

Good luck finding the perp. Chances are he may come looking for you and see what damage he did.

Definitely. The damage could very well have been worse for the Marauder with a 'push' bar installed.
..........not to mention ugly 100% of the time.

I think I've found the car that smashed into my parked car on Thanksgiving.
I've got photos of its front, and of the rear with tags.
Since the car in question left parts behind, and the one in our subdivision is missing similar parts, what's the opinion here of how to proceed?
Thanks....

I would do as said above...

Just call the the investigating officers numer he/she left for you and tell them ASAP!!!!! Of course the pics you have now are a great start.

I know where I'm from, messing with someones car and not taking ownership for the mistake is grounds for a serious azz whippin... But now that you have a police report and all I would just call them.

Keep us up to date. I am very interested in what happens when the cops get involved...

I admire your patience.

The temptation to do something instantly gratifying must be incredible!

But I'm sure you'll be better off in the long run by calling in the long arm of the law... then if they aren't effective you can always go back to the home made thermonuclear devices!

Best of luck on settling the score!

He did a hit & run, I'd do a run & hit. Run up to him with the biggest piece of lumber I could find and hit him in the shins. But then again that wouldn't be considered as the prudent thing to do, so I regress to letting the local cuff 'em & stuff 'em dept. handle it.
