I am looking at selling my '03 early in the new year. I bought it in March '04 and it has just cleared 16 000 kms. All the warranty maintenance has been done on time and I've taken pretty good care of it. The car has the usual faults that are commonly posted here ie. poor quality paint, weak window motors and so on. I've had a defective valve guide replaced and there are other warranty repairs that I will be getting taken care of. I also purchased the extended warrantee.
My question is: What would be a decent selling price? I don't know a whole lot about cars and I don't want to take anything more or less than what the car is worth, and I definitely don't want to waste my time with a "know-it-all" who will try to knock the price down to some ridiculous amount. Not knowing too much about cars does not mean stupid.
I am selling the car because I would like to get something less complicated. Once the warrantee is up, this car will be pretty money-hungry. I saw it with the engine taken apart while it was in the garage and it looked like open-heart surgery in progress! Not to mention the fact that I'm really tired of walking up to my car and seeing new dents and chips in the paint from people letting there full shopping cars run into the car, opening their door into the car, spitting on it and so on. Life will be less hassle when I have a reliable beater that I can do some work on myself and put a nice coat of flat black on it and if there is a scratch on it, no big worry - just get the spray can out! My days of having a nice shiny new car are coming to an end, I think.
If there is anyone out there who has some good advice it would be greatly appreciated!
