What DMV did you go to:confused:

MAD, No, I didn't... I passed with a 98%. It's just a major part of the test that can be so easily forgotten. That and I HATE it when people don't use their blinkers!

Remember keep both hands on the steering wheel.
You don't have to hold on to the (center console) shifter.
It won't go anywhere.

Have a beer before you go, to calm your nerves.

Good luck !!

I know the MM has a way of making us all feel just a bit younger, but isn't this carrying things a bit too far? What's next LL3, going to share your first shave with us? Got a girl friend yet? Been to a prom? Just imagine sharing all your "firsts" with us here, and remember, RF wants all the details...

Just kidding...I do remember my first stab at the driver's exam. I couldn't believe it when I passed, I thought for sure that I had completely screwed up. The car was a '63 Pontiac Bonneville 2dr HT, and the real test, was parking that "wide track" boat. The car must have been 25 feet long, and back then, the test was given on public streets. We must have tried a dozen parking spots before the examiner gave up looking for one big enough to accomodate the Bonneville, and he finally directed me to a food store parking lot. He pointed to a parking spot between two cars. I had to pull in, do a 3 pointer, and then back in, and do another 3 pointer, effectively turning the car around 360, all the time allowing enough open door room between the cars. Hot August afternoon, I must have sweated buckets. He wouldn't let me drive back and I thought it was over, but I passed. Unorthodox way to test, I suppose, but I did it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have used a buddie's VW bug.

Hope you didn't utter things like "going high in turn 3" and "she's loose again, have to pit now" while testing. Examiner's are real touchy about stuff like that...

The car I'm using is the '89 Olds. Smaller than your '69. I might just say "Let's go racin' boys, Boogity, Boogity, Boogity"!

Just kidding on the swaping paint. Just take it easy, do you Mirror Scans, and relax. Oh, make a point of adjusting your mirrors. THey love to see that.

I'm the same way. Only time I drink is on New Years and other like holidays, and even then that's just a little wine or champaine.

Had no problem with my first drivers test. Ten or so years later, had to take another, different state and all. Neqarly failed, scored 72, fail was 70. DMV dude gave me a break. I picked up some bad habits through the years, accelerate when light turns yellow, turn-signal-then look, etc. Lots luck!!!

An early congrats to you. I had to drive illegally until my 18th birthday. Grandpa bought me a shiny new Mazda rx-7 rotory with a 5-speed. Nothing like stalling in first gear at a stop light during the test.......twice!

The parents were super strict with me for some reason. I even had a curfew of 9:30 up till I moved out of the house. They never found out about the car till several years later. I frequently took their 79 dodge x-police cruiser when they went out on friday nites, a motor head friend showed me how to disconnect the odometer....never got caught. Also drove uninsured for nearly 10 years. I don't recommend that, there were no laws regarding that then. I learned the hard way when I rear ended a fellow one morning on the freeway. $$$$ lesson.

Over the years I have learned to always use turn signals (real prick about that), change one lane at a time, carry good insurance, and ALWAYS wear a seat belt. Icy accident doing 70 taught me that the hard way. My (now wife's) head hitting the WS is burned in my memory.

The one thing that is the hardest to break (not theoretically that is) is the local speed limits. I am now 4 years into a no moving violation run.....in the past I came REAL close to losing my license due to ac***ulated "points" on my record. I still speed, but now I do it maturely. <<yah? I just take other peoples safety in mind now, including my own.

Good luck to you, those were the days. Enjoy, and be safe! :)

if you still haven't taken it... and are looking in. Don't forget to check over your shoulders for lane changes, pulling out into traffic etc.

My nephew failed his test because he forgot when changing a lane.

A lot depends on the examiner. Be courteous and not in a rush. You should have the results by now and I'am sure you did well. Good luck. John:up:
