Hello, I have a 2003 300a with that boxcar they call an overhead
console. I like it, but I plan on putting a fold down tv/dvd player
up there so I was going to get the small overhead console found in the
2004 MM. My question is does anyone know what they are going for and
what the part # it is? I am assuming they want an "arm and leg" for it.
Thanks for any help guys...
Best,
Mike

Start thinking about 450 bucks.
Been there, done that.

AND...it's not just a "plug 'n play" swap...different fittings, couplers and electronics...
Don't attempt without one heck of a good bunch of electronics knowledge (or guy to do it) and some deep pockets....and patience.

Isn't the headliner different as well?
Isn't the headliner different as well?
Yes & No...the headliner can remain ('03 to '04 style overhead console)...but you are 100% correct in something else I forgot to mention...and that's that the bracket that holds the console to the roof (fitting behind the headliner fabric) is completely different...and not interchangable...

Ah crapolla, I figured it would not be that easy, its a Ford after all....
Thanks for the input, might just have to fabricate the existing console.

Just try and fab something to go where the sunglasses go thats what I might do in the future. That is unless you are an insane gotta wear my sunglasses all the time and need a little fancy storage compartment for them kinda person. I dont wear sunglasses at all so that area is pretty useless for me.

I was looking to swap someone for an '03 one, since I'd love to have the extra storage space in my '04, but, I think it was Ray, who told us "just forget it". .....way too much trouble. However, if someone has a simple way to do it, I'd be willing to swap. :)

I would be happy to un-install in and ship it to you. But as it was
said before, the brackets are diff. and those would need to be
switched as well...

Why oh why does everyone need to put these things overhead?!
Guess OEM's decided. Maybe cuz only custom vans had TV's and they were overhead?
I digress...
Back in the days when these LCD's first came out and we stereo guys had to build the bezel and everything, extending the center console was the way to go.
I have a AVIC D1 and intend to add a 7" in an extension to my center console. About 45 or so degrees to the floor works from the top of the console (top open) to the seat. Sure, you lose a seat, but decide based on your passenger load....
