on't know the year of this concept, but the body style is the generation prior to the current one (pre 2000), making this a 97 or 98. Yow! 32 valve V8 weged into the engine bay. This thing would have hauled azz. FWD tho.

Different front and rear facica. But otherwise looks like any other 96'-99' SHO.

96'-99' SHOs came with a 3.4L 32v DOHC V8 producing 235 hp and torque, I believe.

Rod.

Sorry, I don't remember much between '95 and 2K, I was distracted. But, I don't remember the Taurus SHO's as clean, or, edgy in design, as we see in Donny's pics. With what we know today, and what Donny "sho's" us, this Taurus SHO may be quite an automobile to add to the stable.

Thanks, Donny.

Yeah, I don't know for SHO's. :dunno:

I like the bodywork changes, tire and wheel selections. I don't know if the concept had any performance upgrades. Cool car, tho.

Here's a couple Gen III sho pics for comparison.

Edit: The concept was a 1999 model, last year for Gen III.

That car has been around for a while. I remember it from when I had my 97 SHO. It was the same color. I always thought that was a cool SHO. The V8 was really a pig in that car. Also for anyone keeping one they had better have had the lobes on the camshaft welded or they were asking for trouble. I got rid of mine after two year for my Continental which ran faster.

I had one. Same color too. Like Darryl said it was a pig and I got rid of my '96 before the lobes went. but somehow I miss that car. Maybe I'll get one for a winter beater.

Wasn't a bad car, just not a great one. It was slower than the previous generation V6. Mine had a few things go wrong on it such as the fuel rail went bad, the CD player went bad, the struts had to be replaced and the alarm would go off for no reason. They replaced the hood latch and that took care of the alarm problem. DJ, if you get another one make sure you take care of that camshaft problem.

This is the Taurus they should've built. I had a 2002 Taurus SEL and this was the 2000 concept for the new bodystyle. Had the SHO came in the new style, I would've gotten that.

S/C'd 3.0L Duratec. 255 hp, 240 lb/ft torque. 3.98 axle.

The rage SHO package was nothing but a body kit, center exhaust, and wheels. Same engine that will puke its guts out when the cams break, nothing really that special.

I think the the 96-99 Tauras/Sable were butt-fugly.

Ford & their self proclaimed "oval this - oval that" fetish that went into the design of these cars didn't go over very well.

Funny how the same basic design(cept for minor changes) went from 86/7 ? all the way up to 95 cars & they sold very well.

The oval fetish characteristics only lasted from 96-99. Sales went down ... apparently I'm not the only one that was UN-impressed with their looks.

Amazing what a few physical tweaks did to those cars in 2000 .....

I would actually buy/drive one again if I had to(24V tho).
