Has anyone installed one of these, and if so, how hard was it? I hear they're about $200 - can someone confirm?

I got one(came with the car) and love it. Nice toasty car in the winter and cool in the summer. Shuts off automatically after 15 Min's. Locks doors upon starting the vehicle. Opens all doors when unlock is pressed and visa versa for lock. The key fob looks like the factory one except that instead of a trunk symbol you have a key symbol. The only glitch I have is that for some reason my interior lights come on sometimes when I put it R or D. They go off after a minute. Anything else you need to know.

Is 15mins really long enough to warm up a car when it's like 2 degrees out?

Surprisingly Yes, I set the heat on Auto @ 80+.

I'd think so.

Personally, I think the turning point is getting heat... once the motor warms up enough to let the climate control start doing its thing, you're only a couple of minutes away from having substantial heat pouring out.

The whole car might not be 75 degreees in 10 minutes, but I think it would be very comfortable and getting even more comfortable by the second.

I'm really tempted to get one of these too, but I'd want to tie it into an alarm as well, and I'm just not sure who I want to have hacking away at the wires....

If I'm not mistaken the Ford Remote Start does tie into your alarm. I know if I hit the lock button twice the horn honks, lights flash and my theft light shows.

i thought about getting the ford factory remote starter but with the prices of alarm/remote starters on the market i think its a better buy with an aftermarket one. thats what i did, put on a viper unit, has a shock sensor (which factory alarm doesnt) which is a big plus. id rather know if someone is trying to get into me car than already inside and trying to take it. gives me a few more seconds to get my shotgun lol.
