Do you change the fog light bulbs? I have a passenger side bulb out, the darn little bulb cost me 27 bucks at the dealer, and I can't see any way to get to it.

$27 for 1 bulb? Shoot, for that price, I would have bought a pair of the Silverstar H1 bulbs for $38. The stock ones may last longer, but obviously aren't cheap.

Sorry, can't help with replacement of the foglight bulbs. Have not had the pleasure of doing that yet.

The bulb goes into the holder. Just reach up in there grab ahold of the back of the fog light where the wire plugs in, give it about a quarter turn, don't know which way, the holder just comes out. Just like the headlights except that the bulb goes into the holder instead of being part of the bulb.

Yup. Put on the rubber glove, bite your lip, and reach in. Twist it around and it'll seperate.

That's the problem. I've looked all around and can't even SEE the holder. I think I may have to take out the battery, and maybe some other stuff, if I go in from the top, or take off the plastic wind deflector thingy if I go in from the bottom.

If you turn your wheels all the way to the left, you should have enough room to reach around the inner wheel well plastic and reach the fog light. You could also jack the car up and reach from underneath. There's a flap that's held by velcro that you push open to get your hand through.

Guys...

It doesn't work that way on the RH side.
There is a SPLASH GUARD there...
On the LH (Driver's) side you can reach in and grab it.

Ya gotta get under the front bumper.
Look for the OVAL cutout.
Push it in, it is held in place by Velcro.
You will be able to grasp the harness going to the Fog Lamp.
There are tabs on either side of the lamp.
Pull these away from the lamp while rocking the plug.
The harness will unplug from the lamp.

Now reach back in and grab the lamp.
It should twist about 45 degrees clockwise, if I remember correctly.
If it doesn't budge, twist it counterclockwise.
Pull it STRAIGHT OUT.

Now here comes the interesting part.
Look at the replacement bulb and look at your lamp.
The Bulb separates from the brown plastic socket.

You can put a dab of die-electric grease on the socket and then insert the new bulb.

I have found that sometimes the bulb will shake loose and lose contact.
So you might want to try this first with the old bulb and see if it comes back on.
If it does, return your newly purchased bulb so your wallet can recover.

Next time go get your H1 GE/Sylvania bulbs from an Autoparts store or Wally World.
They are about $5 ea. or less...

Oh, one more thing...
Whatever you do - DON'T TOUCH THE BULB !!!

If you touched the bulb, just clean it off with rubbing alcohol. You don't want oils on the bulb.

Ross

Yeah, the parts guy at the dealer told me that oil on the bulb would make it go out very quickly. I almost asked him," What if it's synthetic 5-20 oil" but I didn't want to start a new oil thread!

^^^what metroplex said^^^

I make a habit of cleaning all replacement bulbs with a little isopropyl before installing them...just to be sure.

No, I didn't.

The replacement for the right fog lamp is well documented in previous posts.

I personally like the Velcro application. Is that high speed velcro? Reminds me of my '78 T-Bird with a cardboard glove box interior.

Well, we have a lot of beer in Texas!

Beer in Houston served from "Ice houses", a 24'x24' garage type open air "house" with doors (3 or 4 roll-up 2 stall type garage doors)! Cold beer and no air-conditioning. Used to be open late at night and 7 days a week. Serve hard boiled aigs too! Girls softball teams swarming around after a 2nd or 3rd shift game. Ahh, the memories of Houston.

Greek God, sounds like you need a road trip! It's going to be 80 degrees in Houston today, and those ice houses with the girls are still here.

I gonna be do-in a big loop around the country in my MM and will need to have the Tejas Rangers git the wimmen and chillins off the street in Houston afore I roll into town.
Seems like that ice house I used to go to was in the middle of a boulevard on the NE or Nw side of downtown near a big city park.
I saw a "mobile host" pickup truck (with a stainless steel hot and cold kitchen on the back) in an industrial park in Houston. Funny name on the door: "Marges Choke and Puke".

You do not have to see it. You should be able to feel it. Just follow the wiring harness to the foglamp. You will feel the connector. Just twist to the left about 1/3 turn and it will come out. Just twist gently and take your time. The second time will be a breeze.

Bumping this thread in order to let it let me add more tags so people can find this more easily.

edit: didn't work. Just putting the words right here so people can find quick instructions on how to change their right foglight:
