So, I'm coming back from the vet with both dogs in the back of the Sedona. I stop at the light behind 5-6 other cars and about 5 secs later, I'm rear ended fairly sharply. The dogs go into defense mode at the back window. I get out of the van and I see that a Silver MM has hit my rear bumper. The MM looks like it runs so I tell the older woman driver that we need to get out of the road. We pull into a strip center lot to examine the cars and exchange info. I'm not at fault so, I'm calling the local police to see if they want to come out and take a report. It's Livonia, so the cops are looking for excitement.
I start to check my car and it doesn't look that bad. The bumper cover is torn at the bottom. Her Marauder doesn't look as good. It looks like she hit the brakes hard at the last second. Her bumper went under mine and my bumper hit her grille and header panel. No structural damage though.
I'm a little steamed but she looks pretty shook, so I didn't think I'd get any real enjoyment from screaming at her. I ask if she is OK and she says, "I was dialing the phone and didn't see you." I give a resigned nod and shake my head.
I tell her that I feel worse about this because I like Marauders. She says, "You can have it! I hate this car! It's too big. My husband wanted it but he drives a truck for work. So, I have to drive this tank."
I decide that I'm not interested in cutting her any slack. A couple of Livonia's finest arrive and I greet them. One checks the woman and I hear her telling her story about how she wasn't paying attention and was a threat to the outside world. I tell my side of it, confirming everyone's opinion that this woman shouldn't be driving.
We fill out the accident report and one of the cops asks about the dogs. I tell them about the breed and he asks to see them. I warn him about shedding white dogs bt he insists. I bring the dogs out on leash and the cop pets them. The puppy, Zevon, decides that he really likes this cop and begins to lean against his leg. At some point, and I'm not sure how, Zevon stepped on the cop's foot and leaned hard against him with all 100 pounds. The cop landed on his butt.
Now I'm expecting to be tasered at best or "shot while resisting arrest" at worst. But the cop is good with it and his partner says, "He warned you." The cops drive off, one trying to get white hair and packing lot grit off navy pants.
