If you're referring to the current GTO, it's anything but American. Based off the Aussie Holden Manaro.

Now if there is a "concept" floating around of the next gen GTO, then yes it's rumoured to be built here in the states.

Otherwise I like it.

Got the enjoyment of getting spanked at a Test-N-Tune at Bradenton Raceway. I was so far behind, I could read his time on the board before I finished - 13.54 - It's etched in my brain. It was an '05 6.0l 6 speed. I could only perceive one shift also. I can't believe that though. Of course he was two seconds ahead of me :mad2: .

There's one cruisin' around here in Macclenny.
(Silver, my favorite) :D
Had a chance to look it over pretty well.
Have to say I just plain don't like the looks of it.
Gotta respect that motor though, and the 6-speed manual....

I drove 2 of them: 1 2005 silver/black 6.0 6 speed and a 1 2004 red/red 5.7 6 speed. They both drove nice but I would change the shifter to something more firm (like my last Mustang). Forget about trunk space because the gas tank is actually in there against the back seat.

The 2005 GTO is on my list of "vehicles that I will buy in time that need work and will be cheap".

I was to race a girl with a 04 GTO but that story and thread ended up in the Virtual circular bin.

FOLLOW-UP
We haven't raced since she decided to wack a guardrail with it a few months ago and it scared her to the point that she drives it like a Grandma

It looks like quite a few former owners didn't know how to drive them. Here are some examples.

Too much power in too light of a car. she punched it out and it got loose on her and thats how she wrecked it.
What a shame
