The 2007 Shelby GT500 has arrived and at 475HP in factory trim.

There is some speculation that the GT500 might actually top out closer to 500 hp. :D

475 hp... so with Ford's traditional powertrain losses, that should work out to about 340 at the wheels. Been done before... :)

Yeah.....:bigcry: I don't think I'll be able to score one...

But, If that 5.4 32 valve fits in there.... why not in my MM? Except for hood clearance, I still don't get it...:drool:

Considering the last Cobra, I doubt it.

True, I guess they were still smarting from the whooping on the earlier "320hp" Cobras. :)

Anyway, I saw a photo of the front end from the Detroit show... can't say I'm too fond of it. I wasn't fond of some of the Shelbys of the 60s (definitely not the '69, but the earlier GT500s were pretty with the round lights in the grille) so I don't think the look works on today's Mustang.

A simple pulley change and retune and you'll have 550 to 600 HP reliable HP. Most will end up as garage queens, but the few that hit the track will be amazing for a production mustang.

Yes those early 32V 4.6 Cobras had problems, (they still weren't exactly slow though) which I understand was corrected by Ford. They were an early version of our all aluminum engine.

The new Mustang already has round lights in the grille. That looks OK.

My Lightning was rated at 380HP / 450TQ. Dyno showed 360HP / 430TQ made it to the wheels, stock. With the heavy duty tranny, drive shaft thicker than the average Honda driver and big wheels/tires, etc. there's no way they figured out a magical way to reduce parasitic loss to 5%... Recent Cobra's have shown similar results... :thinker: SVT has gone the other way, and is underrating power, now :2thumbs:
