View Full Version : Window Vent Recommendations Please

One is the design quirks of our Panthers is that rain water likes to come in the top of the windows and fall right into the armrest electronics. Another irritating thing is that I cannot open the window to vent the car when it is raining.

Does anyone have recommendations for the plastic vent things that attach over the side windows to allow for opening then a little without water coming in?

Are there several brands of these?

Any better than the others?

How do they attach to the vehicle?

Thanks,

David

Weathertech deflectors are cool. They don't use tape.

There are many competing brands including some sold by FoMoCo. The trick is to find the kind that fit up into the window slot and not those that attach with tape. I bought WEATHERFLECTORS (front & rear set) and ended up taking off the rears. Didn't like the way it looked and really only needed the fronts for the same reason you mentioned.

I paid about $85 shipped for the full set. Just the fronts alone will be cheaper still.

When I bought my car from Constable on this site it had Weathertech vents on it.

They mount in the channel instead of glued on the door frame which is obviously a plus.

And the best part is one of them was slightly faded so I called the company to order another. The rep asked me what car, and after I explained that it had faded he offered to fedex one to me free of charge. No need to send the old one back or anything, didnt ask when I bought them, no copies of receipts, etc......

Customer service is a big deal. And they really did a good job.

Mine had Ventshades on it when I bought it, I thought they were factory. Love 'em!!

The L/M vents are the stick-on kind, 65 bucks @ retail at my dealership.

I dunno...That 3M does pretty good at keeping everything else stuck to the car...The Ventshades are nice too, but it's 20 bucks more.

Tomorrow, I'm buying the L/M parts, will test and evaluate from there.

Got these two years ago and haven't had one problem with them. Hides some of the window chrome and, as said above, lets you open the window a bit when it's raining and deflects the drips. $60, installed from a local detailer.

43.95 here (http://www.gogrilleguards.com/detail.asp?product_id=42459&GID=)

PS. Auto Ventshade is Lund. One and the same.

Most of the law enforcement agencies I deal with have changed over to Weather Tech from the factory Ford/Motorcraft units. They are less prone to issues like car washes, tree/brush and wind/speed fatigue. Of course the sun is a little more intense down here in Oz. That may be a factor as well. I think it would be easier to manually clean the car without the additional edge to deal with bordering the windows.

Actually they use 2 small strips of tape on the sides of the rear ones to keep them up on top of the window frame. BTW, 3 of them came off of a FHP CVPI. The trooper lost one, bought the stick-on ones and wanted them installed where I work. I bought a replacement right front one for $30. I have installed these on my 92 GMLSHPP, my 95 CVPI and now my MM. I like to have my windows cracked open a little bit on those hot days.

Thanks Sarge. There were more recommendations for the weathertech and so I went with them. I do appreciate your reply too.

Has anyone figured out how to keep the rain from pouring off of the trunk lid into the trunk and all over you when you open it???:mad2: :argue:

One of the worst design flaws on all Panther cars!!

I usually raise it a bit and wave it up and down a few times but it still drips inside the trunk!!!

Aside from this small problem the car is PERFECT!!!!!:bows:

That is a pain. I only open the trunk door up so far before any rain water gets in.

I like the Weather Tech in channel vent shades. You'll have a choice of two colors; go for the lighter color ones, they're great looking.

Uh.......

Is it possible to get a photo of one of your cars with these installed.

Something fairly close up.

Look in the MarauderMarc's gallery. There should be a few pics that show the Weatherflectors (along with him and his wife).

I have the Weathertech WeatherFlectors.

They have 2 things going for them...

The first, as everyone else has stated is that they mount INSIDE the window channel
and they do NOT stick to the outside of your Marauder.

The second is that they are about TWICE the thickness of the AutoVentshade.
They give a very clean, factory look installation and last forever.

I have all 4 on my Marauder.
I also put them on my wife's Freestyle.
It was the first accessory she asked for.
