This ebay auction is for what you will pay OVER the MSRP sticker price. As of this posting, it was at 17K and the reserve was not met.
I hope Ford steps in and puts these dealers in check!

Ford won't, this happens every time a "hot" new car comes out.
Some I can recall include the Miata, 350z, Audi TT and of course the new Mustang last year.
I bet a few souls paid over sticker on the Maruder when it first came out.
What was that about a fool and his...oh never mind...

What I'm wondering, Charlie, is how this dealer KNOWS this will be the first Shelby GT 500?
Unless, of course, it's 'Ol Shel hisself, who's fronting the deal (I hesitate to use the word scam) and using it to raise cash for his favorite charity.;)

Does the winning bidder get a free case of PREPARATION 'H' with the sale?

Just another thought. :thinker:
Let's say it actually (which I doubt) is the first GT-500. All of them will become instant collectibles. So some well off collector, or group of investors, pay a huge premium to get that first car, what's it gonna be worth as a stored car sometime in the future? I'd say, if it's affordable, the $17K that's now being bid, is a bargain. Who knows how high it's gonna go, though. :dunno:

The way i read the auction, it isn't 'the' first production car...it's simply the first and most likely only one the particular dealer will recieve (till production overcomes demand) soon as they are built and shipped out.
The reserve is $25K. Add the $50K price tag and your looking at a price of at least $75K before taxes.

I thought that the 'first' Shelby GT was or is to be auctioned off at Barret-Jackson witht the proceeds going to charity...?

Supposedly, the FIRST Shelby is going to be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale next week. The winner will be able to have the car built to his specs. Well, I just checked and it doesn't say first, it says "early VIN".

Hey - didn't we all know this was gonna happen? I remember reading that Ford was upset with dealers that jacked up the prices on the new style TBird when it first came out. But they didn't do anything to stop it. Ditto the GT, 05 Mustangs. Now the Shelby. It's a shame, really. At the talked about sticker price it was gonna be my next new car. But I wasn't holding my breath...
