View Full Version : Picked up another Blue
Bluerauder

No not another Marauder; but a 2006 Ford Freestyle Limited for the wife. :D This one is in Dark Blue Pearl to match the MM. Interior is black. Very nice looking IMHO. Pics below and in my gallery. Just so happens that the one that she liked in the lot was fully loaded .... moonroof, navigation system, entertainment system, safety package, rear sensing, .... the works.
Although I really didn't want the Nav system .... I have been fascinated playing with it since yesterday.
I really like the Freestyle. It handles very well and has style ... no pun intended. However, I find the feel of the Continuously variable Transmission (CVT) to be a little strange ..... no shift points at all. Ford has already announced that 2006 is the final year for this vehicle. Personally, I think that decision was a mistake. This is a really fun vehicle that is quite versatile. The wife is quite happy with her choice. Yes, smootches were in order, Mike. ;)
Interesting side note ... the gas cap has a BP emblem on it with a note the "Ford recommends BP gas". When did this happen? :dunno:

Congrats. I think you should take a nice pic of it next to your Marauder. Might be interesting. I like the pic of Logan's two black rides.

Congrats and good luck with it Charlie. We still have not settled on a new car for Lisa. Thanks for the write up. I'll tell her to check this out.

Call me crazy but I like it as well. That blue looks great. Almost looks
like a Suburu. Congrats!

The wife is already looking at mods like chrome exhaust tips and trunk organizers. Wonder if there is a "fordfreestyle.net" for her to get together with other owners and compare seating options ....

The Freestyle is actually based on the Volvo XC70 chassis and has many of the Volvo safety features. Got a 5-star crash rating .... before the safety package is added. Mine has side curtain airbags that run the length of the car for all 3 rows of seats to protect in a side-impact or in a rollover situation. :bows:

Way to go Charlie. Nice choice of car. I am sure "Mrs. BlueStyle" will enjoy it.
My wife bought the same vehicle at the end of September; 2006 Freestyle Limited, also Dark Blue Pearl with the Black interior, everything but the navigation option. Already put 5200 miles on it. Seems like a good vehicle thus far. Enjoy.

Way to guy, guys. Those new Freestar's are drop dead gorgeous. You're gonna love the nav system. Now you'll need a Garmin TripMate for the MM.;)

Uh Oh ... a new nickname .... I think she'll like it.
I will actually have to give credit for the "choice" to my son George (the SOB). He nudged me into the Marauder and now convinced his mother to check out the Freestyle. The kid knows cars and should be getting commissions from FoMoCo for his advice and consulting abilities. :D

The gasoline recommendation on the fuel door took effect about two to three months ago. I think I read about it on BlueOvalNews.com.

Interesting side note ... the gas cap has a BP emblem on it with a note the "Ford recommends BP gas". When did this happen? :dunno:
I noticed that on our 2006 Black/Silver SEL AWD.
When I first gassed it up, I looked at the cap and said,
"WTF ??? Since WHEN is an AMERICAN car company
sponsoring a MIDDLE EAST FUEL Company ???"

That was published a while back.
Another way for FMC to make a buck.

I know two people with Freestyles. One (a friend) has a loaded Limited (no GPS) and the other (my Sister) has an SEL loaded up with most Limited equipment. Both these cars are AWD. Both owners LOVE THEM. Both get decent fuel milage.
Ford is making a Big Mistake when they drop the Freestyle. There only problem is they don't advertise the car, so nobody knows about it. Also, the name is too close to their van, Freestar.

Sweet lookin ride Charlie!
That blue really looks good.
I can't believe that Ford is dropping the Freestyle!? WTF?
Another neat vehicle that Ford hardly spent any advertising on, and now it is dying an early death.:alone:
I checked one out when they first came out and was impressed...especially how you can lay every seat down flat (except the drivers) for hauling lots of stuff.
Oh well, I'm another step closer to dumping my lame Ford Stock...:mad2:

Update .... seems the beancounters checked the books and found out that the Freestyle was selling pretty well. Have heard that Ford will continue it for awhile. :D
I have only seen one TV spot for the Freestyle. ;)
