My pool bot is on it's last leg. It's a Kreepy Krawly that is 12+ years old and I have repaired it several times, but it is beyond help. I like it, but I was wondering if there is something better out there now.

Anybody have any suggestions for a suction side robot?

Gunnite pool about 32 x 16, odd shaped.

TIA!

A better solution is a Polaris.
It works on the PRESSURE side and cleans your entire pool.

I bought one for my F-I-L, and he loves it to death.
He will not part with it.

It has one part that floats on the surface, dragging the hose around the surface,
and the second part extends to the bottom of the pool, where it does the dirty work.

All you do is empty the bag when its done.

I have a cleaner made by Dolphin. I like it because it has it's own power supply that stays on it's cart. You can let it run as long as you need and not have the filter going. It has it's own filter bag built inside and is very easy to clean. The extra long power cord allows it to reach the whole pool without being moved. My pool is an offset "L" shape and is 69,000 gallons and running it twice a week keeps it nice and clean.

How 'bout ED 209?

Ed209 ... Can you imagine the pool parties?

Ed209: Sir, put down the skimmer net and step away from the pool.
Party guest (with drink in hand): What?
Ed209: Noncompliance will be met with deadly force.
Party guest: Is this some kind of joke?
SOUNDS OF GUNFIRE
Ed209 (to other guests): You have violated the prohibition against peeing in the pool area. You have 2 seconds to vacate the pool. Failure to comply will be met with deadly force.
MORE SOUNDS OF GUNFIRE

Nice party. :)

Seriously. A polaris robot is pretty good replacement, though I've not used it in a gunite pool.

I have a Polaris robot for my in-ground vinyl pool with an 8-foot deep end. It runs off a booster pump, however mine was installed during the construction of the pool so I'm not sure how much or how the pressure line would be plumbed into an existing pool. (I'm sure it could be done, but cost and appearance would certainly be a factor.)

I've had a Hayward for about 9 years, had no real issues with it, Barracuda before that, both did a good job, both would get up on the side walls with no trouble.

wow,.. poolbot? no kidding? I've never had a pool, so I guess there's a lot I don't know about them.

I like the ED-209,.. I think it would be the most effective. :P

My baracuda works well. You have to replace the diaphram(watch it children!) once a year at about $28 but it's the only moving part in the system. I keep it in the pool 24-7. The kids just swim around it. If only use it once or twice a week it would last longer but I'm just over doing any work on the pool other than adding salt.

A pool shark has served me for 10 years with no repairs. "Katrina" may have killed it.

Although not a Robot, I think a Storm Trooper can do you some good.

Thanks for all the replies, I knew you guys wouldn't let me down.

You did leave out R2D2 and C3PO, but the storm trooper was close.

This is the suc-u-bus trash and cleaning robot from the Starship Titanic.

It should work just fine!
