As large as a group as the SSM is, I'm really surprised , that as a group you let MMIV get away. ALL the members, and no one or even a couple of you took the ball and ran with it.
I saw that you were more concerned about barring one guy because he didn't have a marauder yet.
Things to think about, and not to get mad at that someone brought it up.:nono:
Its not too late to have MVIV there, is it?

Maybe, but see all these other plans for other areas, so I am figuring it is a fading option.

Aw, man. My dad just bought a house in sebring, and I would have had an empty house with pool to stay in.

Now lets not get premature with this, the SSM group has a meeting coming up to discuss a plan for MV4. If they want to do it in the spring, they have to kick it into high gear, but if they are planning for a fall meet(cooler weather in spring and fall) they have plenty of time. The caveat is that they need to get on the ball so we can all plan our vacations. Don't give up hope yet!!

I agree with Mercman, there is still plenty of time (especially if its a late summer event). Don't count the SSM guys out just yet:)

It's true that other plans are being made for meets with National Members because the clock still ticks and calendar pages still turn.
However, it's still possible to build our MV-IV National meet, and both the Louisville, KY. and Sebring, FL. events are still in the running for the title. More plans can be made for something later in the year, and trust me, they continue to be thought of, and continue to be the subject of debate. Nothing is dead, my friend, just not mature yet.
Let's remember that it's only January 20, today. Let's also remember that MV-I died a similar first death as you see here, until the "Bob and Jean Mathis rescue squad" pulled everything together at the last minute. This is where our "grass roots" effort by members paid off.
We can do anything we all want to do, and there are no deadlines.
Thanks Zack...How much are the raffle tickets for a genuine Zacked Grille.
My #3 needs some appearance mods...Right now.

The only thing missing in this thread is someone actually from Florida...
I've yet to review the proposals for MV-IV, but let me tell you, the time is running short, we've got to commit to a direction and the direction will go to those who have the most committed hands on support to making it happen...
I personally think MV-IV should be a smaller event, no one's got the time to plan or execute an extravaganza..

Let's be real here...
The big attraction to FL is it's warm when the rest of most of North America is cold.
If nothing works out for the next 2 months, I'd rather go north...

This is a guess, but wasnt the MV4 threads shot down about six months ago because members felt it was too soon to talk about it.
:hmmm: Maybe thats why they're staying away from the idea?

What is the point of this thread? The West Coast meets on Feb. 4th, the State meets Feb. 19th, there will be no word prior to those dates, so the point of this thread is?

None taken Dan, my friend. Not sure what information this thread provides. It states no MV4 in Florida as a fact. Perhaps it will not happen; but I don't see any information being provided; only an assertion of a negative.

Do not count us out yet. It will not happen this spring, but there is still a real possibility we can work out the details for the fall. We will have an answer from the SSM membership after our annual picnic on Feb 19th. Myself, along with several other dedicated members will advise the MM.net membership if we will be able to get things organized for a group decision to host MV IV as well as get a prosposal to Logan. Stay tuned....

Logan, Zack and everyone else. I will do everything in my power to see that MV IV is held here in Florida. The fall is realistic and within a time frame that we (SSM) can make this happen. February 19th will be the day on the decision. If I could do this alone, I would undertake the task by myself. But as big as an event that this could be, I need help from other members here in Florida or beyond. Not just talk, action. I am ready and willing to personally dedicate the time and effort to have MV IV here in Florida. We'll see how many others in Florida are willing to step up to the plate very soon.

Javier,
We all feel for you. You are making the right decision to move forward with your day to day activities. As my mom would say, "Honey, the sun's gonna rise tomorrow.". I wish you well in your healing process and look forward to seeing you at Bradenton for some great fun! Also, don't even worry about your "Laxed leadership". You have to take care of yourself before you can worry about others. We're all here for you!

:director: Thanks guys for jumping in. The more support we get, the better the chances of MV IV happening here.
Javier, no problem my friend, I too have been there and fully understand what you have gone through. And J is right. I am sure that your Dad would want you to move on as well. Fond memories of the heart never leave and only continue to grow.:sunshine:
This is starting to look encouraging.:D Now if we can get some of the Orlando guys and other members within SSM to get on board, we will be rocking. I will have a plan written out by the time of our February 19th picnic. That is where we will need to get the ball rolling.

CFL members are all for MVIV. Though we can't each give 100%, we will help out anyway we can. One of our members (Bruce) can get discounts at over 100 places including major theme parks, resorts, restaurants etc..... More info after our meet next month.
It'd be great to have MVIV in Florida, and I'm sure we can all pitch in somehow.
