Which will give me sole ownership of the Marauder:banana2:

Any comments on the V6? There's about 5k difference between V6 and V8:( She doesn't care much either way, as long as it has leather...
What is the best Mustang forum out there?
Thanks, Jim

Mid-fifteen second car. It has the 4.0 liter engine rated at 200 hp. It is not a bad choice. Should be a fun car in a convertible.

Exhaust note wise, the V8s take the win.

Otherwise, they thankfully blessed the V6 with fairly aggressive looks:

The V8 does have a certain something, though...

The V6 Mustang is just fine. Personally I'd choose the V8

Ford when predicting it's sales went by sales of previous mustangs and guessed they'd be selling more V6s than V8s, so they pre-ordered more V6 engines accordingly.
Sales have actually leaned toward more V8s, which is why there is/was more of a wait to get a V8 Mustang. You shouldn't have a problem finding a nice V6.

If you you are thinking about mods for the future though, I think the V8 is a better bet.

Beware:Convertibles with the bodyside moldings are ex- rental cars. Also, there is a speed shop near Lake Erie that offers a turbo for both v6 and v8
Mustang applications.

Thanks for the replys, keep in mind this is my wife's car, then I can concentrate on the Marauder for mods. Although, a better exhaust, chip and better intake wouldn't hurt the V6, maybe a turbo?:D I believe this is the same 4.0 as a Ranger, lots of mods available for it...
Brian, what body clad mouldings are you referring to?

I think you should special order a 06 Premium GT convertible in Tungsten Grey - black top & black gut fully loaded.

Then bring this bad boy to one of our meets so I can slobber all over it.

And be sure your visit extends into the night-time hours .....

So I can play with the customizable instrument panel illumination too.

Very few Mustangs have ever really gotten my blood flowing south of the border ..... but these 2005+ ones, esp in a convertible have really done it.

For the Wife, its perfect! She does not need all that power anyway,

its better when the man has all the power :D (car wise :))

The protective door moldings are a "fleet only" option.

Yikes  !!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk about something that doesn't look like it belongs on there.

Somebody break out their hair drier - a chunk of fishing line - some solvent - a wax pad & and some wax ASAP.

I'd take my chances on the door dings.

Good info Brian, you know I'll PM you with the vin when I find the right one.
Sure wish I could convince her on a 5spd GT, or even a V6 5spd...

Dude, buy the V8 version. Out of the box it will have the performance you'll spend aftermarket money on to not even achieve. It will have higher resale value. It will have to the power when you need it. And the sound is so much better than the V6.

If the 5k create a financial hardship, go with V6...if you can swing it without undue hardship....nothing like a V-8.

All true Donny, but I'm just looking to make my wife happy, so I can play with the Marauder:D Know what you mean about the sound, I've driven a few as rentals. My 91 Aerostar sounded better than that! Resale value...if I get the girl a red convertible with leather, I won't have to worry about that for 10 years!

^^^ What Smokie said ^^^
The V-8 will have greater longevity because it will be far from peak power for daily driving. The difference in fuel economy will be relatively negligible as well - with your wife driving it -. I would also imagine the V-8 will hold its value better for resale down the road. That alone would be worthy of considering a GT. Best of luck in your quest!

Was at Mullinax Ford/Mercury in New Smyrna Beach a few days ago and I saw some V6 Mustangs with a different grill. Looked at the window sticker and saw that they had the "Pony Edition" accessory. The grill was different because it had extra headlights in the grill, but smaller than the ones on the GT. Looked nice.

Drive the GT automatic. The way it shifts... it's a blast! It's a 5 speed, the gears have a close ratio, and it feels close to the manual as its running through its gears. 1... 2... 3... 4... Vrooom, Vrooom, Vrooom, Vrrrrroooom!
I don't regret going with the auto for one second :D

I happen to like the look of the "Pony" grill & smaller lights better myself ..... I think I would have to make that change if I ever bought a GT. Then again ... the fog lights in the bumper like the upcoming Shleby looks good too.

Too bad the Pony grill/light setup wouldn't work on the upcoming Shelby(like I have the money for a GT let alone a Shelby - lol).

Probably a little higher car payment, but man, youll be happy you got the V8. Shell realize it as well. Is this a surprise, or does she know about it? Let her test drive one of each.

If you are planning on investing that kind of hardware into the V6,
you'd be better off just buying the V8.
At least the power would be starting off N/A at the same point
as your V6 would with all of the additional hardware.

Where you take it from there is your own choice.

Lidio took a Mustang GT STOCK to 10 secs with nothing more than
new Rear Axle Lower Control Arms, and a Tune.

Uhhhh dont forget the supercharger too. Lidio has a killer program for the V-6 that really wakes up the car, not a bad way to go either if you are set on a V-6.

The GT's are hard to come by, you will most likely need to order one. It took 6 months to get mine. This is one of the best cars Ford ever made. It attracts attention as much as the Marauder did. So far I have lowered it with Eibach pro springs, and its getting an Excal tuner from Lidio tomorrow. I found out they are actually offering some incentives on the V-6 Mustangs since they are just sitting on the lots now. The Addition of the Pony Package on the V-4 is helping sell them though, very retro looks and features.
The pony package adds some inside badging, the retro pony badge on the fender, and the running horse/fog light front grill. Also has duel exhaust too i believe.

Speaking on personal experience with the 2005 v6 stang: My ex has one and it's her favorite toy...she had an '01 V6 5 speed manuel and that thing was awsome to drive...it was totaled (RIP) when a highschool kid pulled out infront of her while she was going about 45 mph...no injuries to anyone though thank goodness....she also had a '95 Probe SE that she adored, but the '05 stang is by far her favorite...Hers is a silver convertable with red leather interior and black carpet and red floor mats...a rarity I hear....neat how you can change colors on the instrument panel...and the computer that gives you all the info you need....gas, trip, trip time, fuel remaining,etc...and when you accelerate....boy thats something else...never felt such a smooth and flawless shift...no power loss what so ever....by the way this one is an automatic...I find my self wanting to give the Marauder a rest on a sunny beautiful day to drive this Stang....( Dont tell the Marauder I said that) I must say though, the only thing I dont like about the V6 Stang is the engine noise...It is however very quick....I'll get some pics posted in the next day or two...:coolman:
