I am in search of a list of CD Changer part numbers that will work for my Wife's 2002 Mighty Sable. I have been searching on the bay and can't seem to nail down what numbers will work.

If any of you highly intelligent and most highly regarded folks can help my out, I would be indebted....

My local dealer contact was, well, no help at all. I will likely need the wiring harness as well.

Could use a helping hand.

Do a search on www.Crutchfield.com (http://www.Crutchfield.com) entering in all of the variables for her car.

In 2000 I bought a use 1998 Taurus for a work car. The previous/origional owner had installed a clarion 10 disc changer in the factory location in the trunk. They used a little converter box? (translator that changes clarion speak to Ford speak) which pluged into the factory wiring harness and had about 6 feet of cable attached. It then plugged into the CD changer. When the previous owner traded the Taurus in, they took the CD changer but left the converter. I looked up the part number, found out that it fit Clarion and founf the 10 disc changer on sale for like $150. The steering wheel controls even worked. If I remember correctly, the converter cost like $110. My point is these converter things are out there for various brands of car audio. So you should be able to use just about any CD changer you want, just find a brand that makes one of these converter boxes.

Or try this...

Joe,

Donny Carlson posted this link up in your previous thread. Probably your best bet:

"You are not out of luck. Look here:

http://www.mnrelectronics.com/fordcdchangers.html

They will sell you the Ford CD changer and cable for your Sable. It should just plug right into your control unit on the dash. Prices are competitive with aftermarket units."

Thanks all. I did refer to the link provided. This is for my Wife's car. I spend way too much money on jewelry for her. I am looking to go cheap, really cheap.....

I figure these things must be a dime-a-dozen. Just need to find the numbers that will just plug right in with the proper harness.

Wow, Sable mods. Who'd a thunk it...?

As always, I appreciate all the input.

Hey Joe,

The site above does give part #s:

Changer: XU3F-18C829-AB I also found a different part #: 2U6F-18C829-AA.
Cable: F8FF-14588-CA

If you really want to go cheap, I think an aftermarket FM modulated changer is your best bet.
