Ohio Turnpike Takes Steelers Fans To Big Game

The Super Bowl runs through Ohio for Pittsburgh Steelers fans driving to the game in Detroit.

The Ohio Turnpike is the quickest route for the 285-mile trip from the Steel City to the Motor City.

With that in mind, the State Highway Patrol is gearing up for the anticipated Black-and-Gold caravan.

State troopers have increased their patrols, including more radar to help enforce the speed limit. Patrol Sergeant Tony Bradshaw insists it's not a plot by disgruntled Browns and Bengals fans to slap Steelers fans with speeding tickets.

He says they want to make sure traffic is running smoothly and safely.

Pittsburgh fans taking the most direct route on the Ohio Turnpike will pay six dollars and 55 cents for a one-way toll.

I'm sure the Steeler fans feel, it's worth it.

Also, thinking about the extra volume, and the festive mood of the travelers, it's only natural that the Ohio and MI state police will mount extra enforcement efforts. Their role in this is to see that spectators get to and from the event safely. Traffic stops and extra control effort beat hell out of dealing with multi-car pileups.

Key to the game? Put pressure on Hasselbeck and stop Shaun Alexander ..... Pittsburgh wins. Remember too, there will be more Pittsburgh fans in attendance, almost a home field advantage, in a closed stadium, volume goes way up; that's got to be worth an extra couple of points. Also, having no wind to deal with, give the edge to Pittsburgh's kicking game, and Randle-El's punt and kick-off returns.

In depth analysis :bs: courtosy of a Nittany Lion fan :D

Yeah, them Stillers will lose... no way they'd beat Cinci and Indy and Denver... all on the road, right? And now the mighty NFC... Oh no!

Detroit? Just about a home game for us... Make way for Bus 36!

PS... those Yellow Terrible Towels look great on black Marauders!

Little known fact: All proceeds from Terrible Towel sales go to a Pittsburgh charity that cares for profoundly disabled folks, Allegheny Valley School... 'cause that's how we do it in the Burgh!

We wish to thank Mr. Poore for his spot-on, in depth analysis; however, in retrospect he failed to mention that Randel-El was once a Big Ten quarterback.

He'll be staying close to the phone today, for the many expected offers from ESPN and the like.

This article was true. I had to run down to Tennessee Friday (still there) and I did not see one Highway Patrol car on the length of I-75.
