A friend at work found this. It was too late for me but if you goto bensbargains.net and scroll down to the ROADY XT, click the link and enter the promotion code you can choose either a Roady XT or Audiovox XPRESS for free with a three month service contract. Free shipping to boot!

I'd rather pay double for my Sirius than have free XM.

I have had both and sirius content is superior in my opinion. I guess it all comes down to your preferences.

In my opinion both offer the exact same service except for the obvious like Howard and different sports.

I got it first for the baseball package...... other than that I listen to about 5 other stations on a regular basis.

Had it for a year, love ever minute of it and would pay double for it if I had to.

THANKS XM!!!!!!!!!

I haven't tried XM yet but some Hertz cars that I've rented had Sirius installed. It would cutout for about 3 - 5 seconds 5 or 6 times on a 200+ miles trip... no clouds, no tunnels, mountains, etc. This has happened to me in Baltimore, MD & Washington, DC area, from Raleigh, NC to Clemson, SC and in the Hartford, West Haven, CT area. I work for one of XM's suppliers so I can get any of their equipment at a reduced cost or free. Just wondering if any of the XM users out there have experienced anything similar?

:) I have had XM in my wife's car for almost a year and a half and have no problems with it. Just can't listen at the car wash or at Sonic, but other than that nothing but smooth listening. However, I too only listen to about 3 or 4 channels, but it's nice to be able to listen to them anywhere in the country.

I use my XM from Baltimore (where I live) all the way up to Boston, down to Charlotte SC and west to Chicago... harld EVER do I have any problems. I can remember twice in the past year where I head it fade a little, that's about it.

I used to do custom stereo work and I swore up and down I would NEVER pay for radio..... man am I eating my words now.

One in my SSR that plugged right into the Bose head unit.

One is a MyFi, that records 5 hours of programming and can receive satellite signals on the go. I record 5 hours of programming each night from the cradle while it recharges, then listen to it the next day at work where the signal is blocked.

One is an XMPCR hooked up to my PC to listen at home, and with TimeTrax it rips MP3's of the music or other programming and dumps them into directories on my hard drive. I can then copy them over to my MP3 player. The XMPCR setup has multiple recording schedules, so I can pick what I want to record when the "What's On XM This Week" email arrives.

I NEVER listen to terrestrial radio any more.

Sirius I've never listened to. Hoo hoo, Tell em Fred.

I have XM and RARELY lose signal... usually only if I am in a very deep canyon (in Arizona) or of course drive under a gas station overhead.

The real beef I have with XM is their play list is VERY repetitive. I can listen to several of their rock channels... like 70s for example. I grew up in that ear and I can tell you they aren't playing more than about 20% of the music that was in the era. To me, if I go on a trip that last 12 hours and hear the same song more than once... they have a lousy play list. (and I hear repeats on XM on a regular basis)

Having said all that, in the veritable wasteland that is the desert southwest XM is better than no radio at all.

When I was shopping around about a year ago for sat radio I knew I wanted maximum access to baseball broadcasts... the phone marketing a$$hol@#s at Sirius kept acting vague about it and wouldn't admit that they didn't have regular MLB broadcasts.... I bought XM and it's worked flawlessly for me.

I too have had plenty of experience with satellite in rental cars, and like it, but can't stand the look of the antenna...what are the options there, are you stuck with the ugly blob on the back of the roof?

My gear is about 4 years old now... but I have this "fryingpan" looking antenna probably 3.5 " across and very flat. I run it sitting on my dash.. in my MM, my Tbird and the wifes Miata. No problems. Since I have a black dashmat on all my cars due to the reflection from the harsh Arizona sun, the antenna blends in nicely. Also, when I bought my gear, I bout a double set. Put all the wiring and control sets into the two cars...and I just registered one brain/receiver. I put the receiver in whatever car I am driving.

When I put an XM Commander in my Marauder, I put the (then) new Terk mini antenna on the back of the roof, just in front of the rear window. This worked pretty well, though the antenna did move and scratch the finish.

In my SSR, I found out that satellite radio antennas can "see" through fiberglass and plastics. Mine is installed under a fiberglass trim piece directly in front of the sun load sensor. Works great.

Others have had good luck placing it behind the mirror and on top of the third brake light. You don't really have to put it outside to get good reception.
