It would be a complete badass in black.
The CTS is one of those cars that has really grown on me over the last year.
The 255 hp V6 version is another option for me and 'prolly as quick as the Marauder.

I've never been a fan of the CTS styling.

I noticed it has 18 inch wheels and rear wheel drive. Now I wonder what other American car has those features. Oh yes the MM of course. John

I don't like that styling, either. Didn't like the Caddy interiors as well when I sat in this at the LA Auto Show this year.
Kill the stylers or at least have them tried for criminally bad taste.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sorry, but I think the new Caddys look awful- including this CTS.

Maybe they took Mercurys ad a little to far
"They say it can not be picked up on radar it must be the paint."
Put it next to a F117 and boy its a splitting image.

Um......NO. Not even a fair match as many of us can attest. FWD POS.
The CTS is photo friendly, up close it appears narrow and short. I find it hard to believe the clumbsy square, box look is that of the future.....
Who knows? To each his own though. It's all good.
CRUZTAKER,
CTS is RWD!
0-60 for V6 is 6.7 secs.
0-60 for LS-6 is less than 5 secs!
None of that qualifies it as a POS.

Looks like something outta the movie "Judge Dredd"...nice hp figures, probably moves quick, but geez...what the 'ell are they smokin' over in the GM styling studios?!?!?

We have quite a few in our town, the more ya see em the more they grow on ya, like someone else said here. It looks nicest in black with silver right behind. It will be a screamer if what's printed is true. Go Caddy!! Too bad the price will be a killer along with Ins. costs.

My bad, I had another model on my mind. I certainly wasn't refering to the"up and coming" CTS-V in any respect.
I will stick to guns as far as the 2003 CTS V-6 220HP on the market now.
No competition here....PERIOD.
**********Shagged Performance Data :************
Base Number of Cylinders: 6 Base Engine Size: 3.2 liters
Base Engine Type: V6 Horsepower: 220 hp
Max Horsepower: 6000 rpm Torque: 220 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 3400 rpm Drive Type: RWD
Turning Circle: 35.5 ft.
Current motor is a 54 degree V6 with timing belts.
Not my idea of a lot of fun or a good ownership experience.
New 3.6L VVT motor w 255 hp will be available in July.
Automatic only but manual will be available in 2005.
Slightly better power to weight ratio than Marauder.
Not enough to make a difference.

I just don't like that Cadillac "Arts and Science" styling schtick.
It's another example of GM arrogance. "We don't car if you don't like the way it looks, it's what we are offering and you are going to like it"
I saw these cars at the auto show. For something that is supposed to be "luxury" and be worth it's price tag, I don't think it is. Supposedly they are a step above the Lincolns, but from what I've seen, Lincoln has them beat.
If the Marauder is priced to high, that car at $50K is way out of it's league. V8 or not.

agreed. is it just me, or is this new-age, squared-off, hard-lined styling wearing thin on anyone else? though the CTS is a more obvious example, this type of styling has made its way into more domestics than i can count (think new silverado, new f-150, escalade, avalanche, chrysler's hemi concept). they say it makes the car look chisled, to me it just makes it look bad.

Not a fan of this car, although it is comfortable.
None the less, they'll probably sell a LOT of them.
Cadillac comes with something the MM doesn't.

I for one think its about time we get SOME futuristic lookin carz, but i think cadillac is takin it a bit too far, between the CTS, The XLR, and the SRX they all LOOK THE SAME. I used to hate it but its grown on me and it was a choice between a CTS or a Marauder in the end and I picked the Marauder for a few reasonse (mainly because caddy would'nt Finance to an 18 year old, but Ford did:D ). I'm happier with the Marauder anyway (I NEED A V8)!:coolman: Seriously the Marauder KICKS and I've never been a big fan of Ford, but I AM PROUD OF MY MM
DAMN CADILLAC FOR KILLING THE ELDORADO and the BIG OLD FLEETWOOD!:po: (my 2 favorite old school caddys)

I think it is ugly, too much boy racer. Somebody somewhere once said, nevermind the barking dog, worry about the quiet one. Having said that. I think somebody over at GM said hummm... what if we did what they did but, really gave it some power....

At least Caddy is trying...V8, rwd...not a fan of GM but I think it is pretty cool...and Caddys are always pricey...just like Lincs...and I am always jealous of more power...ALWAYS!!!...the thing is probably to small inside for me...just like the STS...:burnout:
prchrman,
Actually, I am 6'7" and had no trouble fitting in the CTS. It has much more legroom than the STS and deville.
The only problem I had was the low windshield header which blocked overhead stoplights.
But with 400 hp that could be overlooked.
More info straight from GM.
14" rotors!
3.73 rearend!
8.5" wheels w 245 section tires!
curb weight is 3800 lbs which is 300lbs more than the V6.

EXACTLY. just because its built in canada doesnt make it canadian, It was designed in america, and funded by america!
Like the Bricklin (american Gullwinged car built in canada in 1974-75), the DeLorean (ireland built, british funded and italian design... but in the end ITS ALL AMERICAN), and countless other cars

I think the CTS-V is butt ugly!
I don't think one can argue though that the car's performance should be nothing short of "bad ass"!
GM is sure to promote the car, unlike Mercury and the Marauder.
That gmtv thing is cool!
I think the Cadillac 16 could definatly lure me to the "dark side"!

The CTS is a tiny little thing. The v6 is priced against a
freakin COBRA and the CTS-V is priced against a Vette!
Why are we talking about these ugly little monstrosities?
The CTS is designed for WOMEN! No offense meant to the ladies!
I'm the first one to bow down and worship the Escalade, but cmon their cars are not even competitive in their price class in terms of styling or quality or performance against lexus/infiniti.
Unfortunately, I can't say that Lincoln is doing better (much much worse actually.) I love the Aviator and the Nav but if I was in the Market at that price point, it'd be a no brainer to go with an Escalade or a Hummer.......IMNSFHO.

Ford, and by default Lincoln/Mercury, is an American company. Are the cars built in Mexican assembly plants called Mexican cars?

Right...we just "share the wealth" with much weaker economies that allow us to make larger profits here and avoid exorbitant taxes (can't tell that I sent a large check yesterday, can ya?)

This car did well in the crash test and was a best pick by the Ins. Inst. testers. NBC Dateline had the results.
One thing I have noticed in my 10 months of using this board is that threads tend to go way off topic.
Mexican and Italian cars?
It is almost comical except that it can derail a really good thread.
