"rims" is more like slang for "wheels", although one could argue wheel designates a "rim" with the tire

I always thought wheels went on a car and rims went on a bicycle. At least where I grew up.

Relative to cars:
Rim = The metal part
Wheel = The metal part and the rubber part
Relative to boats:
Wheel = Propeller

I've said it before and I'll say it again based on his latest post, RF=Sarge=RF=Sarge. They are one and the same I tell ya. Both are a wealth of information. In fact, have you over seen both of them in the same place at the same time?

I, for one, have seen the Sarge.... but RF was not there.... you could be on to something.

The difference? There is none.
They are one and the same. --- " And the wheel goes round and round"-- you know like that crappy commercial jingle for some tire store on TV.

A rim becomes a wheel once you put a tire on it.

Check out your Jegs or Summit catalog's. Wheels without tires are called wheels.

Ohhhhhhh they know your gonna put tires on them so they go ahead and call them wheels. Your not one of those guys that believes everything he reads are ya ??
:lol:
Actually over the years I think rim and wheels have come to mean one in the same. So next time you get an alignment tell them to go ahead and balance your rims while they are at it. :D

However wheel covers and hub caps are not the same...how bout some beauty rings...moons...black knights...SSs...slots...smooth ies...spinners...reversed wheels...with a set of bias ply M60s...summer night...windows down...duals roaring...with the 8 track playing "Radar Love"...man am I old...

Rim...the outer part of a wheel joined to the hub usually by spokes...a removable outer metal band on an automobile wheel to which the tire is attached.
Wheel...a circular frame of hard material that may be solid, partly solid, or spoked and that is capable of turning on an axle.
so says Webster...:burnout::burnout:
