Video format question

I have some videos in .pme or .vob format. I've gotten errors indicating these were the formats.

How do I convert these?

what kind of program are using for editing? You should use .wmv, .avi, or mpg/mpeg, the file extensions you refer to sound like some proprietary type deal.

VOB

VOB stands for DVD Video Object. It is basically one of the core files found on DVD-Video (http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/dvd-video.cfm) discs and contains the actual movie data.

Basically VOB file is just a basic MPEG-2 (http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/mpeg-2.cfm) system stream -- meaning that it is a file that contains multiplexed (http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/multiplexing.cfm) MPEG-2 video stream, audio streams (normally AC3 (http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/ac3.cfm) and DTS (http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/dts.cfm) formats) and subtitle streams.

In order to view stand-alone VOB files, you need to have a DVD player software that supports VOB playback. A good, open source tool for this is Media Player Classic (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic.cfm). If you wish to burn the VOB files to a standard DVDR disc, you need to have all the other standard DVD files as well, including IFO (http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/ifo.cfm) and BUP (http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/bup.cfm) files. If you have all of the required files, you can follow this guide (http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burn_dvd_folder_dvd_decrypter. cfm) in order to do so with freeware tools.

I've had good success renaming my .vob's to .mpg and playing them through windows media player.
