12 1/2 years ago Duke was my birthday present. A beautiful male Rotty puppy bred for police work. He was my best buddy. With deep sorrow and tears in our eyes we put him to rest today. RIP Bud Bud...

Sorry for your loss. It has been almost exactly 9 months to the day that I lost mine and I still get choked up when I think about him.

Ray,
Just remember, he wouldn't want to see your sorrow. Try to reflect on all the great times you had together. My most sincere condolences.

Condolences on your loss. :( Funny how our pets frequently become such valued family members.

Could be that ole Duke is hanging out with Keema on the "Rainbow Bridge" and having a fine time !!

Here is the Poem on Rainbow Bridge that Donna posted when she lost Keema. Hope it brings some consolation.

rayjay,
I know your pain. It's been 7 years and we still miss our last dog so much, mostly because she was only 9 years old and we expected her to live to at least 15 since she was relatively small at 15 lbs (wire haired fox terrier).

Sorry to hear of your loss Ray.

I've had many pets pass over the years.
The two which hurt the most were my Mini Sheperd 'Lulu',
and my Tabby cat "Tigger".
I cried like a baby for over a week, for every one.

Pets never live long enough to really be satisfying.
Once you get to really know them, they pass on...

It took me almost 8 years to get myself to accept another pet.
So now we have a puppy Chihuahua. My son named him Brownie.
He is almost 5 months old, and soooooo irresistable.

When your time is right, seize the oppportunity to fill the void left in your life
with another friend, and adopt another pet.\

I usually have 10 dogs at any given time, since I was a little kid. I always cry when one passes on. The only thing I cry about, dogs are great things for your soul, and they stay with you even when they are gone.

I am so sorry for your loss...a few thoughts from my Father, a veterinarian...

Pets are a luxury that we get so great a return from that they arent a luxury anymore...

Wouldnt it be great to have our pets "job" ? What a paycheck !

They are the lucky ones when they leave us...from one happy existance to an even better one...the big field that God has for all creatures....they ARE the lucky ones...

I always have had a houseful...canine,feline, etc. Cant imagine being without the racket of them...As soon as your ready, adopt your new friend...

I read once that someone said the more I know people the more I like my dog.

Untill I got a dog (Odie Monster) 11 years ago I never understood that saying.

Lucky for us he still acts like I pup. But I know the day will come when we will have to say farewell see ya later!

Hang in there better days are coming!

Animals are a very important part of our lives...they play with us, when no one else will...they stay with you when your sick, they cheer you up when your sad...They are one of the family....when my cat of 14 years passed two years ago I had her creamated and placed in an ern...She now sits on various places just as she always did.

I've had to give back to Siberian Huskies over the years... right now we're crazy about our 3rd (named Shelby because she does behave a bit like a 289 Cobra).

Dogs are meant to be missed or you weren't enjoying them enough in the first place. Savour the good memories, and if there is to be another in your future... enjoy every minute as you have before.
