I'm being offered the complete s/c setup from a 2003 Cobra, pulley's brackets, heat exchanger, intake, supposedly the whole deal.
This is a result of trying to barter with my 68 Mustang Fastback project.
Thoughts, please!!!!

Before anyone says it can not be done try getting in touch with this guy. (http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/showthread.php?t=27574&highlight=marauder) I know its a Mach-1 and not a Marauder but on the last page he talks about his friends Marauder (http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/showpost.php?p=450152&postcount=109).
I have a friend with a Mercury Marauder with the same set up. Those that are familar with the car know its the same engine as ours except with a cast crank and a automatic.
He is putting down at the rear wheels 425 HP AND 412 TQ ! With 9 PSI and 12.5 A/F.
I expect to top that easily.

:D Do it! and sell your motor.
oh and if anyone tries to tell you the intake is on the wrong side, blah blah blah, my intake is on that side too ;)

Im pretty sure the offer reads the s/c setup only. Not the motor.
But yes, the intake on the passengers side is no big deal.

You are correct, Sir!!
I'll see what the deal is....
Here is what I was sent so far:
He has everything to make it work. Supercharger, Lower intake, 42# injectors, throttle body, stock pulley, upper pulley cover, stock crank pulley, stock fuel rails, heat exchanger & pump, resovoir, tubing, belt. There probably is a couple things I am forgetting that will go along with it. alternator bracket, mass air meter, blower pulley brace, intake tube,
Bring it by, we'll put it in.

I'm working on it.
They would like to trade for my Fastback, but the thing is I have to do more work( fabbing and adapting)with this setup, not to mention no warranty at all.
We are talking....

Take the supercharger, install it, and write up a complete instructional guide (with pictures) on how to do it.
That way when us cheapskates (me) come across a wrecked cobra in a salvage yard we'll know what to do. :)

Interesting thread.
My friend with an '03 (heavily modified) Cobra mentioned the same scenario last weekend. He's looking to upgrade (for what reason I don't know...unrelenting pursuit of speed I guess) his car (now that he's only put 8K on the OD) and said we could put his S/C on my car and run low boost and not get into too much trouble.
Not the first thing my wife wants to hear after I just got NAILED for speeding WAY too fast last week (after only owning the car for a month)....so I'll be watching this thread too. If for some unholy reason I get this swap done I'll definitely post with pictures. . .

Agree'd. There's a setup on Ebay right now going for WAY cheap.
I can get my paws on 03 cobra stuff and dealer parts quick an cheap. :)

Its not a bolt on. The snout of the blower will not clear the hood. There will be firewall clearance issues. Prepare for significant fab work. Not that that is bad, thats just part of the deal.

Rich;
since you asked for opinions here is mine.
Do not do it.
What is this based upon?
I like things to work and not need to tinker, adjust, etc. My car is a daily driver, I needed it back in-service in a few days. I do not know how to tune (using a computer, hand held thing, etc) my car. I wanted a factory look, very clean not crap hanging all over the place.
Looking at your webpage, you are a very skilled mechanic. Your restoration projects are amazing. It appears you have the tools, space and time to handle this sort of one-off project. However, your time is still worth something and that should get factored into the equation.
Again for me, the time, complexity and increased risk for the Cobra setup do not offset a cheap inital purchase price.
Good luck with your project! If you do go for it keep us posted on the progress and results!:burnout:

How many folks here offering opinions have actually seen this set-up in a Marauder? Poked around under the hood for a while?
I have.
Rich-this is a job well within your range of skills.
However, the end result is not pretty.

The end result is what you make it.

Anything can be done with enough time and money. That's not what's being asked. Rich isn't just asking "can it be done", he is asking for thoughts and opinions regarding the project.
The trouble with threads like this is that some folks will always be willing to comfortably sacrifice another person's time and money in the name of "it can be done." But, whether or not it is practical is the better question.
I know what Chuck is talking about. I've seen a Cobra blower on a Marauder as well. Like Chuck had seen, it didn't look pretty. Was it functional....I suppose. But all the small details that make for a nice fit and finish were lacking. Sure, could someone else have made it look better by covering the details...certainly. But, again, whether or not its worth the time and money to the owner of the car to get the perfect installation is a different matter altogether.

Hey Rich! Here's a link to the Ford Racing catalogue. Turn to page 62, lower left hand corner. You'll fine a pic, and dimensions for the 4.6L Cobra engine from the side.

Looks like our altenators stick up more than the blower.
