Does anybody have any idea on how to get this 'posi clip' out? Do I need a special tool if so what is the part #? Sorry I'm so stupid thought I could hot rod on my own. I talked one of my racing buddies into helping me change them it went like this 'piece of cake weve changed 8.8s before in our race car a couple hours tops' That was until I hate to say we ran into this high tech piece of spring steel.

Did you take the spider gear idler pin out?

yes I did. This clip that I am refering to holds the spiders and also makes for a headache when trying to pull the clips off of the axle. Theres got to be some kind of a compressor tool or something along those lines ot take this clip out.

If you have the pin out and the "c" clips removed that hold the axles in the spring should come out. You might have to pull the axles part way out. That spring will have alot of tension on it. There probally is a tool for this. I have done it without one. The harder part is wedging the spring back in. If you try without a tool, make sure the spring dosen't launch out at you when you pull it out.

It has been SO many years since I did anything like this, so I can't comment intelligently, but...

Didn't someone post recently about making sure you have the correct "Rotunda tool" before trying to change the gears?

Dennis?
Anyone?

STOP WHAT YOUR DOING NOW!!!!
That spring does NOT have to come out to remove the axles!
All you have to do is remove the spider gear retaining pin,I think it's a 5/16 bolt that holds it in.Then push the pin out.Push each axle in one at a time and the "c" clip axle retainer will slip right out.

If your only taking out axles you don't need to remove spring.
To replace clutches you do. To change gears only you can also leave spring in. Thats ring and pinion. Spider gears can stay in place when changing ring gear. Did'nt know exactly what you were doing, just answered how to get spring out.

Its easy remove the rear calipers and abs sensors and rotors then push the axiles in the C clip will fall out
