I'm buying another car Saturday to drive while I'm back here and then take back to California so that I can put a cover on the Marauder to preserve it.

Here's a link to the picture:

Good luck with the Buick. I have owned two Regals in the past. The first was a 1980-81 and I kept it less than 2 years. Had to move up to a van because of kids. Next one was a 1989 -- lots of problems, computer, electronics, leaks, etc. When the driver door fell off due to inferior material in the hinges, I walked away from GM and haven't looked back .... lately.

IMHO, put a few thousand more and you can get a second MM. $15,000 seems too high for that car with said milage.

Good luck.

I heard the new Impala SS was good. Anyone else hear that too?

Sorry to hear about your experiences with GM.

I had a 1992 Buick Park Avenue that I bought in 1996 and drove until I bought my Marauder in 2004.

It had 137,000 on the clock at that time and I sold it to a neighbor who still loves it. It has the 3800 V6 which is considered by most to be a good engine easily capable of 200,000+ miles.

This car is exceptionally clean. I looked at one of these two years ago before buying the Marauder and almost bought one. It was a 2003 new on the lot left over in 2004. If the sales manager at the Slidell, LA dealership had accepted my offer, I probably would not have my Marauder.

I expect to be happy with the Regal GS as a daily driver, keeping my Marauder with low miles and possible S/C in a year or two.

Best Regards,

David

The 3.8 is a great engine.

By a clunker and supercharge the MM!

Good luck.

It is the GS version with S/C and I haggled them down to 12,500 with a cut rate price on a three-year extended $50 deductable warranty.

They know the folks who traded it in on a new Buick Lucerne and it was always garaged and most of the mileage really are highway miles.

Dave

That's much better. $12,000 and a sweet warranty is a much better deal than you had me believe.

Congrats, and do take and post pics when you pic her up.

There is a ton of stuff for these cars. I will get you started with a Website that can answer your questions and has a good group of people:

www.RegalGS.org

Basically, I would recommend cold air intake, 3" down pipe, 3.4" pulley for the S/C, maybe the boost bypass mod, and a tuner. These things can be made to run well, just take care of the tranny if you do any modifications.

we had a 99 Regal LS trouble free for the 83k miles we had it for before turning it in on lease.

Nice car! My parents have a 2001 Regal GS, S/C'd. It's very comfortable. I just can't get used to the GM style interior everytime I have to drive it. I'm used to the "Ford" interiors. Now I'm going to have to look at those sites for the Regal and start modding their car without them knowing, as long as I don't make it too much quicker than my Marauder.

I test drove one of these, a 2003, a few months before buying my Marauder, while in New Orleans. Nice comfortable car and quite fast. Killer monsoon stereo!

I'm going to put Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on it after I bring it back to Lowell, Arkansas from Missouri.

My son has a 1994 Skylark 3.1 with over 225K and it still runs well with the original drive line.

Isn't it a bit ironic that your sig says "Chevys suck" and you're buying one?

It's a Buick not a Chevy.

Please don't bother explaining the difference to me! I just hope the man is happy with his new supercharged buggy.

The car was all I hoped it would be.

Nice small town dealership and truthful people.

I got the extended GM waranty for 48 months and 40 thousand miles from today.

Thanks to all who contributed advice or information.

Dave

Modding started already with some exhaust improvements.

Later will come cooler plugs and stat with a smaller S/C pulley, nothing too radical just 35 or 30 more HP.

Dave
