Hello all,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:nono:

I see some write ups on rear engine cooling problems with the 4.6 in our cars and even a kit to correct the problem on DR's site. My question what is the problem with the factory engine cooling setup and what exactly is it you all do about it? Help appreciated. Tnkx in advance.

Mike, The rear cooling kit is a pair of coolant fittings and lines that install in the back of the cylinder heads to allow coolant to flow out the rear of the heads and into the heater core circuit instead of making a 'U-turn' and flowing back out the front of the heads.
I'm not sure if they are needed on a stock engine, but on a S/C'd engine they keep the rear cylinders (especially #7 & #8) from developing hotspots and potentially damaging detonation.
Dennis had posted pictures last year of the entire system installed on an engine stand. Do a search for "Cooling mod".
Hope this helps.
